Echoes of the 60’s at V Theatre at Planet Hollywood

If you love the music of the 60’s, then you have to check out Echoes of the 60’s, the newest, multi-media production to open at the V Theatre inside Planet Hollywood. Seated in the audience, I was blow away by the six-piece band of talented, veteran musicians and singers who perform a compilation of some of the most memorable and influential songs from that decade. As a major fan of 60’s music, I can honestly say, other than listening to the original artists, the cast of Echoes of the 60’s delivers the best, harmonic renditions of songs from that bygone era I have ever heard.

The trip down memory lane, which is sure to create some flashbacks for baby boomer audiences, includes music beginning with Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound, Motown, the British invasion that gave us the Beatles, The Hollies and others, the Psychedelic phase, and iconic musicians such as Hendrix, Joplin, The Doors and more that performed at Woodstock, 1969’s historical Summer of Love concert festival. Adding a unique, nice touch to an awesome show, a few of the principal cast members share some true life, personal recollections about growing up and playing in bands through the sixties.

Echoes of the 60’s is hosted by musician/singer Bill DeLoach as the frontman, who was a member of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons on and off for over 20 years and was the piano player for the late Danny Gans for 10 years. Kudos are in order for him and the rest of the cast that change into wigs and clothing styles to reflect the specific chapter of the 60’s. However, the standout performer is female vocalist, Marilyn James, who possesses an amazing, powerful voice. I never thought I would say this, but she actually takes songs from the likes of Dusty Springfield and Janis Joplin, and without trying to be a sound-alike, in her own style and emotional delivery, makes them her own.

There are countless tribute acts around, but none I have yet seen can compare with Echoes of the 60’s, which delivers the best re-creation of 60’s music that will have you singing along, having fun and waving your arms in the air to the contagious sounds. Whether you were around in the 60’s or not, Echoes of the 60’s is for people of all ages who want to be entertained by genuine, good music that transcends generations. How much did I like the show? For some reason, words like it’s hip, groovy and a blast come to mind.

Echoes of the 60’s performs nightly 10:30pm (Dark Sunday and Monday)
Tickets start at $55.00
