Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas Reopens After 2 Years

On Wednesday evening April 27, Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas has made its triumphant return, re-opening its doors as one of Las Vegas’ most iconic casino resort destinations.

Making history as the first resort in Las Vegas fully owned and operated by a Native American Tribe, the opening night celebration began with a traditional Tribal ceremony led by the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority (SMGHA) Board and Palms General Manager Cynthia Kiser Murphey. Members of the San Manuel and Southern Paiute tribes opened with traditional bird singing and the SMGHA board presented charitable contributions to three local non-profit organizations.

The reopening celebration included - Ribbon Cutting - Palms Sportsbook and Lounge by William Hill; “A Taste of Palms” Dine Around offering a flavor of many of the resorts restaurant offerings; a poolside reception featuring Local DJs and entertainers including Moonshiners, David Perrico & Pop Strings Orchestra and a surprise “Splash Mob” , and a Fireworks Extravaganza.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard to get to this day, and it’s a great accomplishment to introduce Palms once again to Las Vegas,” notes General Manager, Cynthia Kiser Murphey. “The excitement and outpouring of support to see Palms reopen has been incredible. Having undergone more than a $600 million renovation in 2019, Palms Casino Resort boasts a diverse mix of bars and restaurants, featuring the return of popular outlets such as the highly acclaimed Scotch 80 Prime and Mabel’s BBQ. Also brought back is A.Y.C.E. Nigro Construction has announced the completion and opening of a brand new extended-stay hotel, TownePlace Suites by Marriott® in the booming city of North Las Vegas.

Additional dates and performances are expected to be added to the stacked line-up.

On the evening of April 23, the cast and crew of Vegas’ hottest show, MAGIC MIKE LIVE celebrated five years of making magic in Las Vegas and around the world. Imagine Exhibitions, the producers behind REAL BODIES at Bally’s, recently presented local non-profit CHILDREN'S HEART FOUNDATION with a check for $3,000 from funds raised through ticket sales to the immersive exhibit during February for National Heart Month. The fundraiser was a perfect fit as the exhibit takes audiences on a journey that not only explores areas of the body, like the powerful heart, but offers a unique perspective on how our bodies connect anatomically with the emotional expression embedded in each of our physiological functions.

After only two weeks and six performances, 81 year old legendary singer DIONNE WARWICK closed her residency at the newly remodeled Stirling Room inside THE STIRLING CLUB at Turnberry Place. Her shows were scheduled to run through December. On April 8, the official announcement stated “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Producers of “An Intimate Evening” featuring Miss Dionne Warwick, have cancelled all performances effective immediately with no updates on her next public performance at The Stirling Club.” In her opening-night show she fell and injured her shin, and was led from the stage in a wheelchair. Warwick also did not attend UNLV College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, where she was honored along with another legendary singer, Paul Anka.

Illuminarium Las Vegas launched ILLUMINARIUM AFTER DARK, a nightly immersive 21 and over experience on April 15 at AREA15. Illuminarium After Dark provides a reimagined nightlife environment, as guests are transported to new and awe-inspiring surroundings while they enjoy thematic cocktails and perfectly paired bites from Lumin Café & Kitchen by Elizabeth Blau and Chef Kim Canteenwalla. Caesars Entertainment has opened its second NOBU restaurant location on the Las Vegas Strip at PARIS LAS VEGAS. The restaurant features world-renowned Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature New Style Japanese cuisine.

Two Las Vegas locals won big at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, located at 740 S. Decatur Blvd., to take home a collective $41,627 on Sunday, April 17. Lucky winner Shentille kicked off Easter Sunday by winning a total of $35,263 at the 9 a.m. session. She hit the Double Progressive in just 32 numbers. The second big winner of the day, Pedro, won a total of $6,364 at the 1 p.m. session by hitting the Ace Ball jackpot on winning number I24.

A Las Vegas local won big while playing bingo at Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, located at 4575 Boulder Hwy., taking home more than $60,000 on Sunday, April 24. The lucky winner received a total of $63,169 by hitting the Double Progressive on the 35th number called, ball I-17.

MGM Resorts Art & Culture has extended its current exhibit, ASE: AFRO FREQUENCIES, at BELLAGIO GALLERY OF FINE ART for guests to enjoy through Monday, May 30.  ASE: AFRO FREQUENCIE is a multi-sensory digital art exhibition presented by ARTECHOUSE in collaboration with Afro-Surrealist visual artist Vince Fraser and poet ursula rucker.Designed around the Yoruban philosophy of aṣẹ (pronounced ah-shay), meaning our power to exact change, Aṣẹ: Afro Frequencies celebrates the historical, social and cultural aspects of the Black experience through the artists’ lens, brought to life in a digital interactive context. THE PLAZA HOTEL & CASINO will open the live music and craft cocktail venue, THE SAND DOLLAR LOUNGE DOWNTOWN beginning in early May 2022. The iconic local Las Vegas bar will offer free nightly entertainment from local bands and national headliners accompanied by original handcrafted cocktails, pizza, and pool. Official grand opening celebrations will begin Thursday, May 26 and continue throughout Memorial Day Weekend. The College of Southern Nevada, Department of Fine Arts will host an exhibition featuring the works of 18 student artists from CSN’s Art & Art History Program. Works featured in this exhibition are included as part of the program's capstone experience and highlight the vast range of offerings within the CSN Art & Art History Program including ceramics, digital media, drawing, metal work, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. In celebration of International Astronomy Day, SKY CANYON'S SEVENTH ANNUAL SKYE & STARS STARGAZING EVENT with the Las Vegas Astronomical Society (LVAS) is set for Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Skye Canyon Park. Gates open at 6 p.m. for picnicking, music, lawn games, and food trucks with constellation viewing beginning after dark from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.A favorite event for Skye Canyon residents, this year once again features an in-person, guided tour through the night sky led by Keith Caceres, president of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society. Caceres and his team will position high-power telescopes throughout the park aimed at specific and noteworthy stars and constellations and will use a powerful, high-tech laser pointer to further showcase and point out interesting elements in the night sky. Leading technology company Pollen is teaming up with iconic skateboarder TONY HAWK for the unforgettable “WEEKEND JAM” AT DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS EVENTS CENTER, May 12-14. In honor of Hawk’s birthday, the event will bring together skateboarding, live music, video games, food trucks and much more for a thrilling party hosted by the legend himself. During the Weekend Jam, guests will be able to soak in the music that defined a culture from musical icons who served as the backdrop to not only famed skate competitions, but also to the video games that celebrated a generation of skaters. Mad Apple will be a delicious Cirque du Soleil cocktail of music, comedy, magic and mayhem that puts NYC nightlife under the Las Vegas lights. Featuring comedian Brad Williams, freestyle rapper Chris Turner and vocalist Xharlie Black amongst the incredibly talented cast of 39 people, Mad Apple will be a nonstop New York thrill ride from the moment guests enter the theater. From pre-show magic and boozy libations at the stunning stage bar, to the band playing hits inspired by NYC’s most famous musicians and composers, Mad Apple will blur the lines between circus, live entertainment and New York nightlife culture.  Featuring six brash acts and a dynamic makeup of musicians, dancers, comedians, magicians and circus performers, Mad Apple rewrites the script for Cirque du Soleil entertainment. THE COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA FINE ARTS GALLERY presents their our annual JURIED STUDENT EXHIBITION beginning Friday, May 13, 2022, and will run through Saturday, July 9, 2022. A reception with refreshments, awards ceremony, gallery talk, and Salon de Refusés will take place on Friday, May 13, from 6 - 8 p.m. This exhibition will feature student artwork made in connection with CSN Fine Arts Department, Art and Art History Program courses with media including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry, and design. The 2022 Juried Student Exhibition will feature awards with anticipated prize values totaling $1,500 or more courtesy of Blick Art Materials and Kendall Hunt Publishing Company. A Salon de Refusés will take place in conjunction with this exhibit in the CSN Horn Theatre Lobby on first floor of the CSN North Las Vegas campus, Main Building, “H” Wing. The CSN Fine Arts Gallery and all gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. After three sold-out engagements, the world-famous CHIPPENDALES have announced that, “Jersey Shore” star VINNY GUADAGNINO will return to their Las Vegas stage for a fourth time as celebrity guest host in residency. Vinny G.’s six-week engagement will kick off Memorial Day Weekend and run through the Fourth of July (May 27 through July 3) at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Actor Cody Christian and a group of friends including fellow “All American” co-stars, Michael Evans Behling, Daniel Ezra and Hunter Clowdus were spotted at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas while celebrating Christian’s birthday. Christian stayed in a Grand One Bedroom King Suite, sipped on pre-dinner drinks at Electra Cocktail Club and dined on light bites and appetizers from Majordōmo Meat & Fish. For dinner, Christian and friends dined at TAO Asian Bistro, before heading upstairs to a VIP table in the nightclub. Earlier today, the group continued their extravagant celebration at the newly opened TAO Beach Dayclub where they were greeted with Alesso in the DJ booth and Christian’s name blasted on the marquee sign wishing him a happy birthday. Hip-hop artist, songwriter and record producer, Blanco Brown, made a surprise appearance at  The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas while in town for a private show at The Chelsea. After a few songs, Brown joined The Commonwealth on stage to perform a cover of Chris Stapleton’s hit “Tennessee Whiskey.” Toward the end of the song, Brown pulled out a pair of spoons and treated fans to a rhythmic spoon solo.

Following the performance, Olivia joined the cast backstage where she met several artists and posed for photos.
