The Worlds Greatest Rock Show Opens at The Stratosphere

With the title, The World's Greatest Rock Show, the latest production to open at the Stratosphere, sure has a lot to live up to. The show features several of Las Vegas' most talented tribute artists that celebrate some of the most beloved classic rock bands in history, giving audiences a chance to experience fantastic renditions of classic anthems from Bruce Springsteen, Heart, Meatloaf, Journey, Van Halen, KISS and more.  The cast rotates, but based on what I heard and saw on media night, each act does an excellent job delivering the goods as they recreate the look and sound of their respective duo or group from the 70's and 80's as they perform top, identifiable covers such as Springsteen's Born to Run, Hearts' Barracuda, Van Halen's Jump, Journey's Open Arms, Meatloaf's Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and KISS's Rock N' Roll All Night.

You can't help but sing along, get up and dance along to those memorable chart topping hits. That said, it's a great, fun show that should have locals and visitors coming back for more.  Let me put it this way..The World's Greatest Rock Show rocks!

Showtimes are 9pm Tuesday – Sunday inside the Stratosphere Theater.

Earlier in the day, Hard Rock Hotel welcomed the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers back to the property with a proclamation by City of Las Vegas, Mayor Carolyn Goodman, declaring Wednesday, May 3 as JOURNEY Las Vegas Day and a memorabilia property takeover. The memorabilia tour included an updated band case with items from Steve Smith, Neal Schon’s new personal case and Steve Smith’s drum kit display.

Chas Smith, vice president of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel, and Bobby Reynolds, senior vice president of entertainment at AEG Presents, were on hand to introduce the band to the crowd of cheering fans. The duo recognized the band for its second residency at the award-winning entertainment venue, as well as the property’s memorabilia curator, Beau Dobney, who masterfully created the three displays.

Following the Journey case unveiling, Schon revealed his own display case, featuring two of his signature Paul Reed Smith guitars, a hand-tailored suit, shoes, sunglasses and a custom Journey plaque presented to Schon commemorating nearly 50 million U.S. album sales. Steve Smith concluded the memorabilia tour by displaying his 1980 Sonor drum set, used on such albums as Escape and Frontiers.

The photo exhibition runs through September 6.

The National Geographic Photo Ark is a multiyear effort led by Sartore to document every species in the world’s zoos and wildlife sanctuaries and inspire people to save these animals before it’s too late.
