Suzanne Somers Announces Upcoming Residency at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino

The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and actress, entertainer, and best-selling author Suzanne Somers held a press conference on Wednesday morning, March 24 to reveal details about Somers' upcoming residency, set to begin on May 23 inside the newly named cabaret venue “Suzanne's”  (formerly known as the Shimmer Showroom) at the Westgate. For years a top-selling Las Vegas headliner, Somers returns to the stage with her new sophisticated nightclub act at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, titled “Suzanne Sizzles”, that will entertain audiences for a total of 28 weeks through May 2016.

During her years in Las Vegas in the 1980s, Somers was recognized as one of the best female entertainers by media and fans alike for her show, which she starred in at the Westgate Las Vegas when it was known as the Las Vegas Hilton. With “Suzanne Sizzles,” Somers is creating a cool, sexy return to the heyday of the Rat Pack and the Great American Songbook. Accompanied by her band, the show will transport audiences back to the days of lush sound, glamour, and luxury in a setting that will be elegant and the environment intimate, with cocktail seating.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Las Vegas with my new show.  I’m excited to perform songs I love to sing, in such an intimate setting where I can interact with the audience, and create a very special evening,” said Suzanne.

“Suzanne Sizzles,” a 70-minute show, will be performed at 7 p.m. five days a week, dark Sundays and Mondays. On sale now, general admission tickets are priced at $65.00 (plus taxes and fees); VIP and meet-and-greet tickets are also available. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino Box Office.

“Las Vegas has hit the jackpot with the return of America’s sweetheart, Suzanne Somers,” said David Siegel, CEO of Westgate Resorts. “We are huge fans of Suzanne and are thrilled to have her back in Las Vegas and especially glad she will be at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. We know our guests will love her phenomenal show just as much as we do.”

In addition, the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino will open the Suzanne Somers Spa, featuring all of Somers’ SUZANNE Organics Cosmetics, organic skin care, and organic hair care products, and the Suzanne Somers Organic Spa Café, serving food based on recipes from Somers’ series of bestselling cookbooks.

Each show night, Somers will prepare in the dressing room she designed, using materials that are hypoallergenic and green. A pioneering health and wellness advocate, Somers, a #1 New York Times bestselling author, has written a new book, Tox-Sick: From Toxic to Not Sick, an exposé on the immediate and long-term dangers of living in a world that has become increasingly toxic to our health. Tox-Sickwill be published by Harmony Books in April 2015. Suzanne has also been hitting the dance floor with ABC-TV’s “Dancing with the Stars” 10th anniversary season, airing now.

Bellagio Celebrates Japanese Culture with Vibrant Spring Conservatory Display and Art Installation by Renowned Sculptor Masatoshi Izumi

Bellagio's Conservatory & Botanical Gardens' first Japanese-inspired display pairs the soothing aesthetics of Japan’s traditional gardens with Bellagio’s striking grandeur while boasting a vibrant collection of more than 82,000 flowers and larger-than-life floral creations and many of the culture’s most iconic landmarks.

“Springtime in Japan is truly breathtaking and we are excited to share this extraordinary cultural experience with our guests from around the world,” said Randy Morton, president and COO of Bellagio. “After traveling more than 5,000 miles to study gardens in Tokyo and Kyoto, our horticulture and design teams created a dynamic interpretation of Japan’s enchanting spring season, featuring many of the culture’s most recognizable elements.”

Among the thousands of flowers, including fresh tulips, daffodils and snapdragons, guests will discover traditional bonsai trees nestled among recreations of some of Japan’s most iconic landmarks. Adding to the charming atmosphere, live musicians perform Japanese melodies on a floating platform, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. daily.

On view through May 11, the Japanese Garden will culminate with Golden Week, a national celebration in Japan recognizing several significant holidays including Constitution Day, Children’s Day and Greenery Day.

The Conservatory display is a collaboration between Bellagio’s expert horticulture team and MGM Resorts International Event Productions with consultation from Master Gardener Kanji Nomura from Nagoya.

Admission into the Bellagio's Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is FREE to the public and open daily, 24 hours a day.

Continuing the celebration of Japanese culture, Bellagio also unveiled a striking new art installation handcrafted by renowned Japanese sculptor Masatoshi Izumi just outside of the hotel’s main entrance.

The installation, A Gift From the Earth, is comprised of four distinct stone sculptures, Wind, Fire, Water and Land, each representing one of Earth's four elements. Meticulously hand carved from basalt over the course of 18 months, each sculpture weighs between 17,000 and 27,000 pounds. Basalt, a form of lava that has cooled on the volcano’s surface, is frequently found in Japanese art as it represents the origins of the island nation.

“Art and culture are integral to the Bellagio experience, with original works throughout the resort, in addition to rotating exhibits at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art,” said Tarissa Tiberti, executive director of MGM Resorts Fine Art Collection. “The Izumi installation is a tremendous addition to this experience and is a beautiful representation of the authentic art forms within the Japanese culture.”
