Aliante Casino & Hotel Celebrates 'One-Year Independence Day' with Official Proclamation and Grand Opening of Farm 24-7

The City of North Las Vegas honored Aliante Casino & Hotel with an official proclamation declaring Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, as ‘Aliante One-Year’ Independence Day’ during a ceremony  inside the AAA Four Diamond resort. Aliante also introduced its all-new 24-hour farm-to-table café, FARM 24-7, with a subsequent ribbon-cutting celebration.

City of North Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tempore Anita Wood presented the proclamation to Downey along with Executive Director of Marketing and Entertainment Lauren Westerfield, Vice President of Food & Beverage Robert Bethune and other resort executives. In one year since becoming an independently-owned and operated casino, Aliante has opened the new 3,500-square-foot re:lax spa, rebranded three restaurants, launched a new mobile app, upgraded its weekly entertainment lineup and partnered with numerous philanthropic organizations on community-driven initiatives. The resort is responsible for the creation of more than 200 new jobs since Nov. 1, 2012.

Along with receiving the proclamation, Aliante officially opened the all-new FARM 24-7 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Bethune and Executive Chef George Jacquez. FARM 24-7 will offer complete breakfast, lunch and dinner menus throughout the day and use ingredients hand-picked by Jacquez from local producers including Gilcrease Orchard, Cowboy Trails Farm and The Farm, among others.

PBR Rock Bar Celebrates the 2013 Built Ford Tough World Finals

For a third consecutive year, PBR Rock Bar & Grill, located inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, teamed up with Professional Bull Riders to be the ultimate headquarters of the Built Ford Tough World Finals. During the rockin’ weekend, bull-riding fans gathered at the Strip-side destination for nightly viewing parties and official after-parties featuring appearances by top riders.
 
On Friday, Oct. 25, PBR Rock Bar’s sponsored rider, Sean Willingham, took a break from bull riding to host an official after-party, encouraging fans to experience the action themselves on PBR Rock Bar’s hydraulic mechanical bull. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey sponsored rider and fan-favorite, Rocky McDonald, along with the Jack Daniel’s girls, stopped by the viewing party on Saturday, Oct. 26, to greet fans, sign autographs and pass out Jack Daniel’s samples.

PBR Rock Bar wrapped up the 2013 World Finals festivities on Sunday, Oct. 27, with a retirement party for two bull-riding greats, Luke Snyder and Brendon Clark. The now-retired riders thanked family, sponsors and fans for their support and looked forward to future endeavors. Fans clapped and cheered-on the bull-riding superstars as PBR Rock Bar brought out a cake to celebrate their long and successful careers.

Las Vegas Foodie Fest Draws Thousands to “Tasteful” Event

An estimated 35,000 foodies passed through the gates at the Silverton Casino Hotel for The Las Vegas Foodie Fest. More than 30 food trucks participated in the event, including headlining truck White Castle, and celebrity trucks, The Buttermilk Truck, BACONMANia, and more.

The festival saw a continued increase from April as lines for White Castle remained constant throughout the three days. With an average of 20,000 sliders sold each day, West Coast Cravers showed up en mass to get their hands on the signature sliders.
 
Foodies from near and far came throughout the weekend to try the delicious dishes from 35 food trucks and 10 gourmet food vendors. The festival opened Friday, Oct. 18, with lines around the block of eager diners craving the opportunity to try samplings from each of the trucks. VIPs from across the Las Vegas Valley flocked to the Silverton Friday evening to indulge in exclusive food and beverage tastings from various trucks in attendance. The event benefitted the Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Foodie Fest is a bi-annual event hosted by Red Dragon, LLC. The event, which brings together gourmet food trucks from across the country, will return in 2014 with more food, fun and entertainment.

 

Addition recent and upcoming “happenings” in and around Las Vegas include:

Four-time GRAMMY Award®-winning R&B vocal group BOYZ II MEN has extended its residency at The Mirage Hotel & Casino into 2014. The trio, featuring baritone Nathan Morris alongside tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman, will continue to perform in the Terry Fator Theatre on select 2014 weekend dates. Tickets for performances scheduled January through April are currently available.

Former lead singers of chart topping group, The Fifth Dimension,  pop/R&B artists and husband and wife duo MARILYN McCOO AND BILY DAVIS, JR. headline the 5th Annual Evening of Cabaret benefitting AID FOR AIDS OF NEVADA (AFAN) on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. inside the intimate Cabaret Jazz Room at The Smith Center. Tickets  range from $35-$59 or two VIP tickets for $99 that include a meet and greet after the performance.
 
Trey Noran presents the “IMPULSE AND LEGENDS CONCERT” on Thursday, November 7 at the LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.  This charity event will raise funds for “His Love Street,” serving homeless communities since 1989.  All of the monies raised will go toward opening and supporting a work placement agency and food pantry at 1200 Stewart in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Many Las Vegas entertainers will be performing at this special event including “Impulse” (Brooke Allyson and Jim Shank), Tierney Allen as Lady Gaga, Alex Sherpa as Cher and Travis Allen and Tyler James both performing as Elvis. Tickets for the “Impulse and Legends Concert” are $25 general admission (including tax and fees) or $100 for a VIP Booth Package (including tax and fees).

ART ENCOUNTER opened an exclusive and unique art gallery at The Forum Shops at Caesars on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. Art encounter's reentry into the retail fine art market will be highlighted by high-end, museum quality art works from private art collections around the world.   Masters that will be on display for purchase during the opening weeks will include: Spanish painter Pablo Picasso; American painter and printmaker Thomas Moran; American Pop Artist Andy Warhol; Swiss sculptor-painter Alberto Giacometti; and Dutch American Abstract Expressionist Willem de Kooning.  The new Art encounter at The Forum Shops at Caesars, will have regular mall hours opening at 10 a.m. daily and closing at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Park Place Infiniti will again be the official “Park Place” title sponsor of The Adoption Exchange’s biggest annual fundraising event, “A MONOPOLIZING EVENING, MONOPOLY® TO BENEFIT THE ADOPTION EXCHANGE” on Friday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m., at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas located at 710 W. Lake Mead Blvd., in North Las Vegas.  Park Place Infiniti was the “Park Place” title sponsor at last year’s event, where the dealership also provided gift bags to all of the Monopoly® game winners and a Community Chest raffle prize. A non-profit organization, The Adoption Exchange believes every child deserves a family and serves as the connection between children who wait in foster care and families who adopt. The next “LAS VEGAS ROCKS VARIETY SHOW” hosted by entertainer Tony Sacca on Friday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at The Railhead Showroom at Boulder Station will have the following guests: master impressionist Rick Michel; Celebrity Magician Murray; Flamenco guitarist Toto Zara; and psychic Lisalee. The hour long show is backed by the Michael T Band and taped before a live audience. Admission is FREE. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and guests must be 21 years or older.

HAKKASAN LAS VEGAS RESTAURANT, the newly built 20,000-square-foot dining mecca at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino has collaborated with The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to create an exclusive three-course, prix-fixe menu, available for $70 per person in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through Monday, November 18, the culinary outpost will be offering a selection of Hakkasan’s classic dishes from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in addition to its newest cocktail creation “The Iron Rose,” where a portion of the proceeds will go back to the fund in support of local breast cancer services and national research programs.

Sunset Park located at 2601 E. Sunset Road at Eastern Avenue, will host SUNSET PARK'D, a Gourmet Food Truck Festival, from Noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. More than 30 local and regional food trucks will be on hand with a sampling of food from hot dogs, sandwiches and tacos to lobster and dessert such as frozen yogurt, cupcakes and pineapple.  The FREE family friendly event will have something for everyone including children’s activities, a classic car show and live entertainment through out the day.

Headlining this year’s event will be Crash Kings, an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2006. Also performing on the live music stage will be local Las Vegas bands such as The Remedies, Lady Reiko and Sin City Prophets, Fleetwood Nicks, Paper Tigers, Love Vendetta, Ekoh and The Beau Hodges Band.

The event, which Clark County Parks and Recreation plans to make an annual affair, is to celebrate the recent completion of a four-year, $11.7 million renovation project to the Las Vegas Valley’s third-oldest park.

The UNLV Performing Arts Center welcomes the “lyrical” and “insightful” (Washington Post) 25-year-old MAK GRGIC at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19 in the Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall as part of the Allegro Guitar Series at UNLV. THE LAS VEGAS IMPROVISATION PLAYERS salute our troops and celebrate our veterans with a special comedy improv show on Saturday, November 23 at 7:00pm. The “clean-burning” improvised comedy and music show will be held at the American Heritage Academy, located at 6126 South Sandhill Road in Las Vegas.  All current and former members of our military and their guests are invited FREE of charge to show. Local jazz musicians and friends of TOM FERGUSON will present a fundraising concert Sunday, Nov. 24 to benefit the new Tom Ferguson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event will be held at 2 p.m. in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre on the Cheyenne campus. General admission is $10 and includes a post-show reception in the lobby. Dr. Thomas C. Ferguson, known as “Dr. Tom” to colleagues, was an acclaimed jazz pianist, arranger and educator. He began at CSN in 1988, serving as coordinator of music, chair of the Fine Arts Department, and chair of the Performing Arts Department until his retirement in June 2008.

The Las Vegas Chapter of SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES will host the inaugural PJ 5k and one-mile walk at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m. Participants are invited to run, jog or walk the course in their pajamas. The course will take runners and walkers through the Glittering Lights holiday light display at the superspeedway.Participants who bring a new pair of children’s pajamas to donate will be entered in a drawing to win two tickets to Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s 2014 NASCAR Weekend.

Award-winning actor and local resident, Nicolas Cage with his wife, Alice Kim, comedian Carrot Top  and rocker Vince Neil who was accompanied by two girlfriends, dined at La Comida celebrating the start of Halloween weekend with their significant others.

Getting into the Halloween spirit, Cage’s wife was dressed as a ballerina while Neil came as a priest with one of the ladies playfully corresponding to his costume as a devil. Cage and Carrot Top dressed casually.
