Winter World Market 2009:  Heat and Light at the Furniture Show

The Winter World Market has come and gone once more, showcasing innovative products that compelled your humble correspondent to cheerfully ride escalators up and down two 16 story buildings to bring you news of them.

The semi annual event brings an international clientele to Las Vegas to experience furniture trends, workshops, panels and showrooms full of the latest in home (and garden) furnishings and accessories.  More than 1,500 exhibiting companies traverse 5,000,000 square feet across three buildings play host to manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, contract buyers and industry professionals.  Product categories include furniture, decorative accessories, wall décor, lighting, area rugs/floor coverings, floral, tabletop, textile, bedding, mattresses, and gift.

This time around the following products distinguished themselves from among the countless offerings, both practical and decorative:

Frockz:  Slipcovers for LampsWho says the old can’t look good in spandex?  These decorative lampshade slipcovers hug any old lamp top, infusing it with style, color and a whole new look.  With names like Crimson Dragon, Chartreuse Retro, and Pink Leopard, the covers are removable, washable, and sized to fit most lamps, whether drum or cone-shaped.
