Terry Fator Celebrates First Anniversary as Mirage headliner with Introduction of New Puppet Character

Terry Fator, the comedy ventriloquist/ singer/impressionist, who wowed TV audiences to win the 2nd season of America's Got Talent, celebrated his first anniversary as strip headliner at the Mirage on Saturday night, March 13.

I saw Fator when he first appeared at the Las Vegas Hilton before signing his multi million dollar, ten year contract with the Mirage, and later on I attended the opening night performance of Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands at the classy resort/casino. In my review of his show, I stated how I was blown away by his amazing talents. After seeing him perform a year later, I haven't changed my mind. In fact, I think his show is even better, as he has made some noticeable improvements. Gone is his Michael Jackson impression along with some overly raunchy jokes, and during the special anniversary performance, a new puppet friend was revealed.

A crash test dummy, aptly named Wrex, who sings songs about cars including Little Red Corvette, Pink Cadillac and I'm Your Vehicle Baby, joins the eclectic cast of puppet characters including yodeling cowboy/flirtatious ladies man Walter T. Airdale, Emma Taylor, Winston the Impersonating Turtle, “soul man” Julius, annoying neighbor/ stoned rocker dude Duggie Scott Walker, stuttering, self proclaimed Elvis impersonator Maynard Thompkins, Vikki, the buxom, red haired“cougar,” and The Beatle (not any of the fab four, but the hyphen between Lennon-McCartney) who share the stage with Fator. Through the use of his puppet friends, and without ever moving his lips, Fator effortlessly performs singing impressions of music superstars such as Roy Orbison, Garth Brooks, Maroon Five, Etta James, Elvis, Rod Stewart, Louis Armstrong, Tracy Chapman, Kermit The Frog, and more from his seemingly endless list of celebrities.

During this special performance, Fator was joined on stage by surprise guests. First to walk on was prop comedian/Luxor headliner Carrot Top who had everyone laughing when he asked Fator for a loan of $100 to play blackjack. Later, Monte Carlo headliner Frank Caliendo showed up, wowing everyone with his dead on impressions of Al Pacino, George Bush, Bill Clinton, Jack Nicholson, Dr. Phil, Robin Williams, Charles Barclay and John Madden that he employed in congratulating Fator on his anniversary.

Caliendo said it in a nutshell when he handed Terry Fator the highest compliment as a Las Vegas headline entertainer. “Terry is the man who has set the bar in Las Vegas” I could not agree more.
