Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant & Bar Opens at The Bellagio
Last Friday evening (July 18), The Light Group’s latest restaurant venture Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant that features an extensive Japanese menu of fresh, ingredient-driven cuisine for both the sushi novice and connoisseur in a sumptuous and highly stylized surrounding, celebrated its opening to the public by holding a traditional Japanese Sake Barrel Ceremony known as a “Kagami-Baraki.”
The ceremony, which usually takes place at celebratory events for good luck, takes place when the lid (or the Kagami) is broken open by a wooden mallet and the sake is served to everyone present. The Light Group CEO Andy Masi, Bellagio President and COO Randy Morton and Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant & Bar executive chef Akira Back, along with restaurant management Oliver Wharton and Shane Monaco, were dressed in traditional Japanese garb and broke open (biraki) the barrel. The sake was then quickly passed to every patron in the room where a toast to harmony and good fortune was made.

Also, dining at the restaurant on Friday evening was NBA legend Patrick Ewing, along with his wife and son, who sampled on Chef Back’s delectable cuisine including the rock shrimp, jidori chicken, the spicy crab and vegetable tempura while sipping on Pellegrino water.
