Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was unable to attend, but in his place was Mayor pro tem Gary Reese who presented an official proclamation proclaiming Thursday, June 10, 2010 as “Music & Arts Society” Day in Las Vegas. Joining them was City Councilman Anthony Stavros. Guests enjoyed tastings of smoked salmon on crackers, round mini pizzas and mozzarella sticks, as musical entertainment was spun throughout the evening by DJ Tatiana Alvarez.

The event also gave guests a sneak Preview of the “Spin” Evolution of the DJ Exhibit, a permanent display which chronicles the technological advances of the modern DJ from its antiques roots with Thomas Edison in 1877 to modern times. The exhibit educates visitors about the pioneers, who paved the way for contemporary DJs, and the new music genre known as House/Electronic Music. Also discussed was workshops hosted by DJ George, (aka George Hernandez), who will teach students about the “art” of spinning music.
