Legendary Comedian Paul Rodriguez Brings “Paul Rodriguez And The Whole Enchilada” to the Tropicana Las Vegas

In an effort to attract Hispanic/Latino audiences to the property,  The Tropicana Las Vegas is presenting Legendary funnyman Paul Rodriguez's new standup show, "Paul Rodriguez and the Whole Enchilada"for a limited engagement May 17-June 20. Also on the bill is rocket scientist turned comedienne Shayla Rivera, stand up comic Martin Adler and a quartet of scantily clad dancers that open the show.

Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health celebrated a dream 14 years in the making, with the Friday, May 21 opening of the Life Activity Center designed by famed architect Frank Gehry, which will host medical education and other events.

Monday night, May 16 Scott Frost, President of Titan Nightlife Group, the developer behind Hussong’s Cantina,  celebrated his 44th birthday and the launch of the Spinal Injury Recovery Foundation at Hussong’s Cantina inside Mandalay Place.  Frost, who was paralyzed from the neck down as the result of an off road motorcycle accident in May of 2009 decided to launch the Spinal Injury Recovery Foundation, whose mission is to serve as the leading resource for new victims of spinal cord injury, to help other families in his situation.  The birthday celebration was highlighted by the introduction of the El Gigante cocktail, named after the very tall Frost, and the hanging of his commemorative charcoal. A percentage of proceeds from the El Gigante, will go towards the Spinal Injury Recovery Foundation.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman officially proclaimed May 25 "Rick Faugno Day" to coincide with National Tap Dance Day in honor of Rick and his triple-threat dancing, singing and acting contributions to our great city through his role as the original Frankie Valli in "Jersey Boys" and his critically-acclaimed hit one-man show, "Songs My Idols Sang and (Danced)."

Due to popular demand, the phenomenally popular off-Broadway production Girls Night The Musical has extended its limited Las Vegas engagement. Performances will run through Sunday, May 30 at Studio 54 inside MGM Grand. Performances are Wednesday – Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Sexy & Dangerous” starring Mario and Jenny from “America’s Got Talent” will open their family variety show in the Embassy Theatre at the Las Vegas Rocks Café beginning on Thursday, May 27.  Performances will highlight extreme variety with death defying juggling moves, acrobatics, dance, gymnastics, celebrity star impressions and special guest balancing act extraordinaire Tino Ferreira.  Shows will run Thursday through Sunday.  Tickets are $19.95 plus tax.

Steve Wynn’s Encore will open its Encore Beach Club and 5,000-square-foot Surrender Nightclub with an all-star musical line-up over Memorial Day weekend. On Friday, May 28, Steve Aoki, Surrender Nightclub’s musical director and creator of the dance hit “I’m In the House,” will take over the turntables for “Aoki’s House.” on Saturday night, May 29 there will be a live performance by platinum superstar Ne-Yo. Sunday May 30, marks the afternoon debut of electronic music artist Kaskade and a special evening performance by LMFAO.

Blush Boutique Nightclub is moving its popular Wednesday evening promotion, “We Love House Music,” to Sunday evenings. The new night kicks off at 9 p.m. on May 30 with a special performance by legendary American electronic musical duo and Las Vegas homegrown talent, The Crystal Method.

Comedian Larry Reeb, who has been seen on A&E, the Playboy Channel, HBO, Showtime, ABC, FOX and WGN, headlines the Riviera Comedy Club MAY 31 – JUNE 6. Also on the bill will be Multi talented comedian and impressionist Jeff DeHart and extreme comedienne Sheila Kay whose material includes dieting, sex, bikinis and underwear, sex, marriage, sex, rejection, cigars and sex. Show times for the Riviera Comedy Club are 8:00 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $24.99 plus tax and fee.

Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill  will be giving away a free Big Burrito Especial  to patrons on Thursday, June 3 kicking off a weekend full of events in celebration of the Las Vegas Film Festival. Guests must visit to download and print the coupon for redemption at any valley Rubio’s location.

The Village Lake Las Vegas hosts  FREE weekly “Movies on the Lake” beginning Thursday, June 3 at 8 p.m. The first big screen hit being shown is “Hook” (PG).  Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or low-back chair to use.

Other movies in June will include “Sherlock Holmes” (PG-13) on June 10, “Where the Wild Things Are” (PG) on June 17 and “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (PG) on June 24.

The lineup continues with “Star Trek” (PG-13) on July 1, “The Blind Side” (PG-13) on July 8, “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” (PG) on July 15, “The Goonies” (PG) on July 22 and “2012” (PG-13) on July 29. “New Moon” (PG-13) will be shown on Aug. 5, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (PG-13) on Aug. 12, “Up” (PG) on Aug. 19 and “The Wizard of OZ” (G) on Aug. 26. All movies will be shown on the lakeside lawn at The Village which is located in Henderson at 15 Costa di Lago. Moviegoers should be advised that no coolers are allowed at these showings. The Thursday addition of “Movies on the Lake” creates a fun-filled weekend lineup at The Village joining the already popular “Friday Night Live” lakeside music series and Saturday night’s “Jazz on the Lake” series.

Las Vegas’ hottest chefs, restaurants, and mixologists will gather for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, the city’s premier culinary benefit to raise critical funds needed to support Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger in the Las Vegas valley and across the nation.  This year’s event will be Wednesday, June 2 at Rain Nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with a VIP reception beginning at 5:30 pm. The Jagermeister Music Tour: Korn’s Ballroom Blitz makes a stop at The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. with special guest 2 Cents and emceed by stand-up comedian Big Jay Oakerson,. As part of the Jagermeister Music Tour, Korn is hitting ballrooms and clubs across the U.S. recapturing the spirit of the band’s early days on the road.

Friday, June 11, beginning at 10 p.m. Beauty Bar on 517 S Fremont St will be hosting an evening of live music from industry buzz bands including Halloween Town – featuring Las Vegas native Ryan Pardey – Transfer, The Novelty Act and Romance Fantasy and a DJ set by Rex Dart - all playing to benefit the Arbo De Vivo foundation.Tickets are just $10 and 100% of the money collected from ticket sales benefits Arbo de Vivo,  non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need to help themselves.Arbo De Vivo’s initial focus is on the impoverished island nation of Haiti, the poorest and most vulnerable in the Western Hemisphere.

The ninth annual Reggae in the Desert concert returns to the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, located at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas, on June 12.  The lineup of performing acts include Barrington Levy, Sly and Robbie, Marcia Griffiths, Eek-A-Mouse, Mystic Roots and local group HaleAmanO.  Doors open at 2 p.m. and the event concludes at 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 the day of the show. Children ages 5 and younger are free. All seats are general admission and available on a first-come, first served basis.

Legendary singer Bobby Vinton will perform his hits from 1962-1972 at The Club inside the Cannery Casino & Hotel on Saturday, June 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available in four levels: table of four $79.95, gold $39.95, prime $24.95 or reserved $14.95.

Punk rockers The Offspring with special guest Terrible Things will bring their energetic show to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, June 18. Tickets start at $39.50 (plus applicable service fees),

The Palms Pool & Bungalows, in partnership with Cruzan Rum, launches a new summer live performance series Cruzan Campfire Concert Series. The line-up starts with blues alt-rockers the Spin Doctors performing on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. Ticket for Spin Doctors are $30 for general admission and $50 for a VIP ticket that allows guests access into a special viewing area and includes a complimentary Cruzan cocktails.

The June lineup up for the Award-winning Playboy Comedy hosted by Cort McCown and Paul Hughes inside The Lounge at the Palms Casino Resort are as follows: June 3 through 5 – Greg Fitzsimmons;  June 10 through 12  – Iliza Shlesinger and Mo Mandel;  June 17 through 19 – Dom Irrera; June 24 through 26 – Tommy Davidson.  Show times are Thursday and Friday nights at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 8 and 10 p.m.

Sting, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, will perform Friday, June 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  Sting will perform his most celebrated songs re-imagined for symphonic arrangement while the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio.  The concert spectacular is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $201, $86 and $51, not including applicable service charges.

Alternative Press, the Cleveland-based magazine dedicated to covering today’s contemporary punk culture, has announced a free, all-ages party in Las Vegas in conjunction with AP’s 25th anniversary.  The Vegas bash, presented by VANS, will be Wednesday, June 23, at Area 702 indoor skate park with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. The British invasion kicks off with Your Demise, past AP Tour stars You Me at Six up next, U.K. heavy hitters Enter Shikari performing third and past AP cover stars Bring Me the Horizon headline.

Celebrated Chef Kerry Simon is bringing a brand new concept - KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers to Harrah's. The restaurant, offering the ultimate in burger selections with the Simon flair,  is scheduled to open in early July 2010 in the heart of Harrah’s Las Vegas resort will serve lunch, dinner and late-night bites.

Legendary singer/songwriter Barry Manilow's new show at Paris Las Vegas has been such a success that 18 new performance dates from August 20 – October 24 have been added to his current schedule. Tickets for the following performances: August 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29,  September 3, 4, 5, October 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 are now on sale.

Celebrity sightings:

Tuesday night, May 18  Maroon 5 was spotted at LAVO.  Front man Adam Levine serenaded girlfriend model Anne V throughout the night and the entire group danced and took photos.

Also taking in the night was New York Knick Al Harrington, who stuck to water but danced to the sounds of DJ Five.

Thursday,  May 20, retired NFL star Warren Sapp was spotted enjoying dinner at TAO Asian Bistro with friends.

Prior to appearing on the red carpet for the special screening of Get Him to The Greek, British comedy actor Russell Brand was spotted handing out chips to fans on the casino floor at Planet Hollywood.

Friday, May 21, Actress Jasmine Dustin hosted at TAO Beach in celebration of her role in Iron Man 2.   Dustin continued her Vegas visit with dinner at TAO Asian Bistro.

Eight time Olympic gold medalist speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who turned 28 at midnight, celebrated at TAO with a party presented by All In Magazine. Ohno and friends including poker player Chris “Jesus” Ferguson had dinner before heading up to the moat skybox in the nightclub where the party continued.

Actress Rebecca Mader, who is in town to host a LOST series finale party at LAVO on Saturday, also enjoyed dinner at TAO before hitting the nightclub with friends.

Spotted having dinner was Tom Felton, “Draco Malfoy” from the Harry Potter film series, and his girlfriend.

Chris Ferguson was at LAVO later in the evening, mingling with the crowd until around 3:30 am.

Saturday, May 22, Wilmer Valderrama hosted the Carrera Escape at TAO Beach.  Launched by the Carrera sunglasses brand, the Carrera Escape is an urban retreat that is the ultimate getaway for celebrities and tastemakers.

Apolo Ohno continued his 28th birthday celebration, which started at TAO on Friday.  He was surprised with a cake poolside before heading to the grand cabana to say hello to Valderrama. 

Later in the evening, Actress Rebecca Mader hosted a LOST series finale party at LAVO. The British actress, who played Charlotte Lewis on the hit show, arrived with her boyfriend and friends and started the night with dinner before heading up to the nightclub.

“Peepshow” star Holly Madison received a huge surprise when legendary R&B vocalist Dionne Warwick accompanied by her son, Mike, stopped by the blonde bombshell’s launch event for her new line of signature candy necklaces at Sugar Factory at Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
