Strip Entertainers Raise More Than $13,000 at the Sixth Annual Solo Strips Benefiting Aid For AIDS of Nevada and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

Guests packed the Absinthe tent at Caesars Palace on Monday at midnight, September 27 for the sixth annual Solo Strips featuring 14 of Las Vegas' hottest performers baring it all for charity.  The event raised more than $13,000 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BCEFA) and Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN).

Longtime entertainer Francisco Avina opened the night with a stirring performance dedicated to his own personal story and battle against HIV/AIDS, moving the crowd to tears with a solemn reminder about the history of Solo Strips and what it means for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Following the moving tribute, longstanding AFAN supporter Bryan Chan returned for his sixth year to host the evening and charmed the room to encourage guests to tip for a cause throughout the evening.

Temperatures continued to rise and gazes turned upwards for a pole performance on towering stilts by Las Vegas dancer and performer Laura Kelsey which got the dollars flowing. 'SEXXY The Show' creator Jennifer Romas stunned in a sleek red dress and steamed things up with co-performer Ryan Kelsey from Chippendales for a number featuring nothing but shadows and silhouettes. Aerialist Drew Leach flew high in nearly nude and the entire cast of 'Cherry Boom Boom' rocked the house with a modern rock and roll burlesque and guests clapped in rhythm with a high-energy, percussion performance from Steve Weiss and Pendu. Other performers included Sheila Joy Burdford, Brittni Trippi, Timber Brown, Alexandria Halbauer, Ben Lerman and Michael Radiff.

Director/producer and "Le Reve - The Dream" retiree Ryan Lyons first brought the show to Las Vegas six years ago and has since raised more than $55,000 towards helping those affected by HIV/AIDS.

"This year, I wanted to bring us back to the very core of why we do what we do and remind us all why we're here," said Lyons. "This show started with humble beginnings with a few close friends wanting to make a difference and has become an annual night to remember, raising thousands for such an important cause."

To honor the Las Vegas community, BCEFA teamed up with AFAN to keep funds here in Southern Nevada. AFAN's Executive Director Antioco Carillo said, "Solo Strips is one of the best events of the year that brings an entire community together to help us in our mission and fight against HIV/AIDS." He continued, "We've made such an impact here in Las Vegas and have come a long way in fighting this disease that affects so many men, women and children."
