Nearly 6,000 Runners Participate in 5th Annual “The Color Run” in Downtown Las Vegas

Nearly 6,000 runners painted the streets of downtown Las Vegas at the fifth annual The Color Run and its brand new Tropicolor World Tour theme, with a portion of all proceeds going to benefit Three Square Food Bank on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Participants sprinted, walked and even danced their way through designated color zones throughout the 5k course with each checkpoint sporting a new hue. Bubbles infused with island-inspired scents reinvigorated runner's senses as a new addition to the fun run experience.

Covered head-to-toe in the bursts of powdered color, the runners poured into the finish line, where they gathered around for the finish festival and enjoyed refreshments of hand-spun cotton candy, shaved ice, and music by live Djs.

A 15-foot-tall pineapple and an eight-foot-tall beach ball provided one-of-a-kind photo opportunities for the friends, families and kids who joined the five million runners who have crossed The Color Run's finish line since its inception in 2012.

"We couldn't have asked for a better day to return for our fifth year in Las Vegas," said event coordinator Danny Earl. "The new Tropicolor theme really added an exciting element to the run and the runners definitely looked the part."

As a tribute to René Angélil, the performance opened with a touching video that chronicled personal and milestone moments in René’s life from his early days of childhood, to managing a superstar recording artist, to being a loving husband and father. The video was produced by Productions J., a prominent television production company based in Montreal, which has worked closely with René and Celine for years and has captured some of their most successful and intimate moments together. Celine also sang Barbra Streisand’s “With One More Look at You,” dedicating the song to the memory of her late husband.

“I understood that my career was in a way was his masterpiece, his song, his symphony,” expressed Celine. “The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realized that if he ever left us I would have to continue without him, for him.”

René Angélil was the visionary behind Celine’s Las Vegas headlining residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace which began over a decade ago in March 2003.  To date, Celine has performed 966 shows in the venue and tonight announced 27 more shows in 2016 which will put her on schedule to reach the epic milestone of 1,000 performances by the end of the year.
