The Animal Foundation's 10th Annual "Best In Show" Raises More Than $225,000 and Finds Forever Homes for 52 Dogs

On Sunday, April 28, local celebrities, philanthropists and supporters gathered at the Orleans Arena  the 10th Annual “Best In Show,” presented by  Zappos.com.   Singer, songwriter and entertainer Clint Holmes hosted the event that successfully found forever homes for all 52 cuddly canine contestants from The Animal Foundation, Nevada’s largest animal shelter and pet adoption center, while raising more than $225,000 for the organization.

Guests were welcomed with a live performance by the cast of Tony® award-winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, who performed hit show tunes including renditions of “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash, “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley and more. Clint Holmes was joined by local news personalities who presented a variety of categories featuring incredible shelter dogs. Presenters included KVVU’s John Huck, KLAS’ Denise Valdez, KTNV’s Beth Fisher, KSNV’s Gerard Ramalho, and Univision’s Leticia Castro. The female presenters were accompanied onstage by two dashing gentlemen from Chippendales. Also in attendance was Mayor Carolyn Goodman who donated to The Animal Foundation earlier in the week as part of Nevada’s Big Give.

Longtime supporter of The Animal Foundation Holly Madison presided over the Special Needs category, which featured two unique tripod dogs seeking adoption. The new mom wowed in a colorful floral dress and strappy pink Charlotte Olympia shoes propped by mini poodle heels. Backstage, the blonde bombshell posed for photos with contestants from the Puppy Parade category while greeting fans. Siegfreid and Roy also stepped on stage where they were honored for their steadfast commitment to animals of all sizes and species as well as their vast contributions to The Animal Foundation’s community mission.

The Cinderella story of the day was the successful adoption of Chance, a Shih Tzu mix and Special Needs contestant, who underwent a generously donated surgery by Dr. David Mason of Las Vegas Veterinary Center. The surgery corrected a genetic condition in Chance’s hind legs and restored him back to official “tripod” status with full use of three legs. A local family bid on Chance and welcomed him into their home at the conclusion of the event.

Winners from each category were awarded by applause, and the coveted title of “Best In Show” went to Sharlie, a beautiful two-year-old female Mastiff mix. The show was concluded by an auction-style process, where interested attendees headed backstage to big on their favorite contestants. Each one of the 52 dogs found a new and loving home to call their own. Successful bidders were required to complete The Animal Foundation’s standard adoption process, in which they are evaluated for suitability by adoption counselors.

In addition to the fifty-two contestants with new homes, The Animal Foundation successfully found forever homes for 128 animals as part of the Best In Show Adoption Weekend, which offered discounted adoption fees on all dogs over two years and all cats over one year.

“Pin Up” starring Claire Sinclair Celebrates Grand Opening at Stratosphere

PIN UP, the original new show inside the Stratosphere Theater starring Playboy's 2011 Playmate of the Year and Bettie Page clothing model Claire Sinclair celebrated its Grand Opening on Monday night,  April 29.

Pin Up brings to life the classic pin up girl calendar from the 40's, 50's and 60's and features a wide variety of dance styles woven throughout month-by-month vignettes that transports audiences to a modern version of a vintage era where red lips, corsets and garter stockings grace the most beautiful of women.

Since its soft opening back in early March, the show has been tweaked and tightened with changes in singers and dancers, choreographed dance routines and a couple of new numbers added.

The show features 22 routines (with a few that entail illusions), and an impressive cast including fabulous singer, Anne Martinez (replacing Autumn Belanger, who opened the production), six amazing dancers comprised of five females, one male dancer Ryan Kelsey, and a live six piece band with a horn section led by music director, acclaimed trumpeter, conductor and composer Dave Perrico.

As the headline star attraction, Sinclair displays her curvy figure throughout the show in skimpy costumes and vignettes that teases rather than bares her all natural, 36D-24-38 assets.

Sinclair isn't a dancer, but she does an admirable job performing in her first show that utilizes her physical attributes accordingly, especially in two routines, the cute and sexy bed scene where she interacts with an animated pillow and the other with the brunette bombshell as a sexy witch conjuring up a hunk from a cauldron to the song, “I Put A Spell On You.”

Pin Up performs as a late night show, but it isn't topless. So those who expect to see Sinclair reveal her goods might be disappointed that they are forced to leave everything to their imagination.

“PIN UP is classy, sexy and most importantly, fun.”said the 21 year old show headliner.

There are still a few things that needs to be fine tuned, but all in all, as it stands, I found Pin Up to be a highly entertaining, fast paced and lively production.

Pin Up showtime is 10:30 p.m., Thursdays through Mondays in the Stratosphere Theatre. Tickets are priced at $49.99 plus taxes per person. VIP seating upgrade available for $10.00 more.  Guests must be 21 or older to attend the show.

Celebrity Red Carpet arrivals for Pin Up's Grand Opening included: Zowie Bowies' Chris Phillips and girlfriend, violinist Lydia Ansel; dancer/singer Tara Palsha (“Vegas! The Show”, BBR); cast of Jersey Boys; Louis Prima Jr, magician Jan Rouven; comedy hypnotist Anthony Cools; actor Ian Ziering, celebrity Chef Carla Pellegrino and Marcelle Braga; Holly Madison; Australian Bee Gees; Ricardo Laguna; Million Dollar Quartet's Tyler Hunter; comedy magician Murray Sawchuck and sidekick Doug "Lefty" Leferovich; cast members of Raiding The Rock Vault, Recycled Percussion, Evil Dead and Rock of Ages,  singer Taylor Hicks;  the hunks from Chippendales, singer Jasmine Trias and singer/magician Ben Stone; Brian Thomas; Alicia Jacobs; BMX star Ricardo Laguna;  and of course, Claire Sinclair and her cast.
