ABSINTHE Celebrates Two Successful Years on the Strip

Las Vegas’ favorite Strip-side show, ABSINTHE at Caesars Palace celebrated its two year anniversary and its 1,000th-show milestone with a special event on Thursday, March 28 at the Spiegeltent in the Roman Plaza.
 
Guests enjoyed jaw-dropping acts fans have come to know and love from the eccentric cast of ABSINTHE.  As a special surprise to mark the achievement and success of the show, audiences were treated to a one-of-a-kind performance featuring zombies that flooded the tent.

Following the show, there was an after-party with specialty drinks provided by Belvedere Vodka, delectable bites from Central by Michel Richard and live entertainment and music provided by Who and Paulo da Rosa,  the unique duo consisting of Paulo’s live electric guitar riffs blended with DJ Who’s hard beats.

RagTag Entertainment presents the musical classic “PIPPIN” at Shane O’Neal Studios (4970 Arville St. Suite 101) on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at 8 p.m. Stephen Schwartz’s “Pippin” is the tale of a young prince on his search for meaning and significance. A portion of the proceeds benefits GOLDEN RAINBOW, a nonprofit organization that provides housing and direct financial assistance to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. Tickets for “Pippin” are $15.

Undefeated lightweight ANGELO “LA COBRA” SANTANA will face CARLOS ‘EL PROFETA’ CARDENAS for the World Boxing Association interim lightweight championship, and undefeated super lightweight prospect Amir “Young Master” Imam, meets Jeremy “Hollywood” Bryan, in the co-feature on Friday, April 12 at Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
 
The ShoBox: The New Generation doubleheader will be televised live on SHOWTIME beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).  It will take place in the Treasure Island Ballroom.
 
Tickets to the event are all priced at $100 each, plus tax and fees. Doors open at 3 p.m. PT, and a full undercard will be presented prior o the televised matches.

As part of  its 10th Anniversary Season, The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV presents Molière’s “THE LEARNED LADIES” Apr. 12-21 in the Black Box Theatre. This comedy, which focuses on academic pretention and female education, looks at the lives of three “learned” ladies whose uncontrollable obsessions are learning and culture of the most conceited kind. The women use every tactic to advance themselves, including obtaining a special protégé to be the fixture of their literary salon. Show times are at 8 p.m. on Apr. 12, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 20. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Apr. 14. 10 and 21. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $13.50 for those under 18.

THE SMITH CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is proud to host 12 year old, soprano singing sensation JACKIE EVANCHO'S first headlining show in Las Vegas 7:30 p.m on Saturday, April 13 inside Reynolds Hall. Tickets range from $58 - $128.

The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino is partnering with Three Square Food Bank during the WINE REVOLUTION CHAMPAGNE AND JAZZ BRUNCH on Sunday, April 14, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Grand. 20% of both individual tickets sales and live auction items will be donated to Three Square Food Bank to help fight hunger in Southern Nevada.  Tickets to the brunch and auction can be purchased individually for $100 (price is per person, plus taxes).

Internationally renowned comedian, actor and entertainer DON RICKLES will perform at The Orleans Showroom April 13 and 14. Showtime each evening is 8 p.m. Tickets start from $79.95, plus tax and convenience fees.

This year, the 39th annual UNLVINO will expand to four days of events, for wine, beer and spirit enthusiasts, April 18-21, 2013. Nevada’s original wine festival will showcase an array of international beverages and continue Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada’s mission to raise millions of scholarship dollars for students of UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.  Tickets are now on sale for 2013’s exciting festivities. The perfect Valentine’s Day gift for wine connoisseurs – UNLVino’s special $350 wine-lovers “passport” package – includes admission to all four tastings, a savings of more than $100.

The award-winning musical “VIOLET” is being staged by the Department of Fine Arts at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) on April 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. Performances are in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre on the Cheyenne campus, located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.  Jeanine Tesori wrote the music and Brian Crawley wrote the libretto for the play, which is based on “The Ugliest Pilgrim” by Doris Betts. The musical was one of the most acclaimed off-Broadway shows of the ‘90s,with its powerful story and lively score that includes gospel, rock, country and rhythm and blues.  Admission is $17 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

Adapted from E.B. White’s most famous children’s novel, the LAS VEGAS SHAKESPEARE COMPANY  brings to life CHARLOTTE'S WEB live, onstage, Friday, April 19-Sunday, April 21 and Friday, April 26-Sunday, April 28 at the HENDERSON PAVILION, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees starting at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10.

In honor of National Nanny Training Day, Nannies & Housekeepers U.S.A. hosts “VEGAS' BABY SHOWER AND BEYOND,” one of the city’s largest baby showers at Tuscany Hotel & Suites on Saturday, April 20. The shower will feature a presentation from “America’s Supernanny” Deborah Tillman and proceeds from the event will support local nonprofits Baby’s Bounty and Communities In Schools of Nevada.

Public House Las Vegas at Luxor Hotel & Casino will host a “DRAFT DAY PARTY” for the NFL Draft 2013 featuring half-priced draft beers on Thursday, April 25.

As part of his nine-city West Coast U.S. tour this Spring, seven-time Grammy Award winner and Multi-Platinum artist, PRINCE, and his new, all-female backing band, and 3RDEYEGIRL will make a stop at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for four shows on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. REHAB, Las Vegas’ original and most indulgent pool experience, located at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, celebrates its 10th Anniversary season with an all star lineup beginning with SUBLIME WITH ROME, the popular reggae group, on Sunday, April 21. GRAMMY Award winner and French electronic pop duo Justice headlines the second weekend of REHAB with a DJ set on Sunday, April 28.

THE 3RD ANNUAL LAS VEGAS FOODIE FEST will take place, Friday, April 26 – Sunday, April 28 in the  parking lot at Silverton Casino Hotel.  The the day event features more than 30 of the most celebrated and delicious food trucks on the roads. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman announced that OPPORTUNITY' VILLAGE'S largest annual fundraiser, the LAS VEGAS GREAT SANTA RUN will return to its original home on Fremont Street Experience and Downtown Las Vegas on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Now in its ninth year, the Great Santa Run has established itself as an iconic local charity event, with thousands of red-suited supporters flooding the streets for a 5K run and one-mile Kris Kringle Jingle walk, each December.

Super middleweight boxer Andre Dirrell was spotted at Club Tattoo inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Dirrell visited the shop to get inked by renowned tattoo artist Krystof. Dirrell won the middleweight bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Thursday, March 28...

The talented cast of the famed acro-cabaret variety show “Absinthe” celebrated their 1,000th show ay PURE Nightclub inside Caesars Palace. Arriving just after midnight the entire cast, including The Gazillionaire, Penny Pibbets and Angel Porrino, all outfitted in full zombie attire. made their way to their VIP booths on the main stage.

Nearing 1 a.m., DJ Gusto got on the mic to congratulate the cast as confetti burst into the air and the group was presented with a green, two-tiered cake topped with the number ‘1,000’ covered in gold glitter.

Also in attendance celebrating was Spiegelworld founder and Absinthe co-producer Ross Mollison.

WET REPUBLIC at MGM Grand kicked off the 2013 pool season with world-renowned DJ Tommy Trash. The GRAMMY Award-nominated Australian DJ and Producer hit the newly remodeled Vegas hot spot in full force as he made his daylife debut.  Nominated for a 2013 GRAMMY Award, the Australian-born DJ has created high-profile remixes for heavy-hitters including Swedish House Mafia, deadmau5 Kaskade and many more.

international pop music sensation Rita Ora hosted an evening at TAO Nightclub.  Rita posed for a few shots on the red carpet and took photos with fans before joining friends in the restaurant. After  dinner, they made their way into the nightclub where DJ Five led the charge in the DJ booth.
 
Also spotted at TAO was 90210’s Jessica Lowndes, who stopped by Rita’s table in the dining room to say hello to the singer, who once guest starred on the TV show. After dinner Lowndes and friends, including new boyfriend model and former rugby player Thom Evans, headed up to the nightclub.

They did celebratory shots in honor of Thom’s upcoming 28th birthday on Tuesday. Earlier in the day she soaked up the sun at TAO Beach.

Twilight star Kellan Lutz treated his father Brad to a special birthday dinner at TAO.

At LAVO, actor AJ Buckley shared appetizers and entrees with fiancé Abigail, who was celebrating a birthday. The couple later hit TAO Nightclub.

Football players Mikel Leshoure, Martez Wilson and Terry Hawthorne were spotted at HERAEA inside Palms Casino Resort celebrating Leshoure’s birthday. Leshoure, running back for the Detroit Lions, Wilson, linebacker for the New Orleans Saints and Hawthorne, cornerback for the University of Illinois, all enjoyed dinner and a birthday cheesecake.
