What You
May Not Know About Marc Savard - Hypnotist, Motivator, Educator, Speaker
Marc Savard hypnotizes his subjects and entertains at the V theater six
nights a week. (Sundays excluded) Audience members are the stars along
with Marc. Yes, he does hypnotize people and they do believe they can
sing, dance, even audition for, well, best find out for yourself.
Suffice it to say that it is entertaining, funny, and real. I have seen
the show twice so far, and clearly every show is unique because the
personalities of the participants make the humor.

One warning, don’t go onstage if your parents are there with you. And
don’t let them go either unless you are a family that can laugh you
heads off at each other and not be embarrassed. Enough said.
When I visited the V theater in the Miracle Mile shopping Mall at Planet
Hollywood to check out hypnotist Marc Savard’s show, Mesmerized, for a
second time, I had the opportunity to chat with the show’s moving force,
Canadian born Las Vegas resident, Marc Savard. Marc clearly has a
hypnotic effect on lots of people. And he has built a successful career
helping people off stage as well.

DD: Marc, how did you get into hypnosis?
MS: Originally, it happened by accident. I was interested in hypnotism.
I did a lot of reading and research and my college friends got wind of
it and said, Marc, why don’t you try hypnotizing us. And I did and here
I am 14 years later. I never even chose it as a career. It just sort of
happened, but I am very pleased with the path that it has taken me.
DD: How does one become a hypnotist? Where does one go to study? A
regular school? A special school?
MS: I trained at a school in Los Angeles. As a matter of fact, I am
opening my own school here in Las Vegas starting at the end of
September.
DD: What makes a good audience for your show?
MS: Willing participants. Everyone has a dynamic and loud personality
inside of them and I just help bring that out. So as long as they are
willing, we can have a whole lot of fun and that’s most trouble I
encounter is not getting enough volunteers. Give me 25 or 30 good
volunteers and we can have the time of our lives.
DD: Are some people more susceptible to hypnosis than others? What makes
a good subject?
MS: As long as they are willing to focus and concentrate on the ideas I
am going to tell them, as long as they can follow simple instructions,
that’s all we need. A lot of times people think that maybe women are
more hypnotizable than men or vice versa, or you have to be gullible,
but its nothing like that at all. Hypnosis is basically focused
awareness. If you become so focused on an idea, that idea becomes your
reality for the hour and 20 minutes that you are with me on stage.
DD: You are in show business. You present a fabulous show, but I
understand that’s not all you do. That you use hypnosis for other things
as well, professionally.
MS: Yes that is correct. I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist, so I
also do mind training with athletes. I work with a lot of professional
athletes, Olympic caliber athletes and professional hockey players and
golfers and things like that.
I also have designed an alcohol awareness program that I have toured in
high schools with to help promote alcohol awareness and driving
responsibility.
DD: I understand that you were involved in a head on collision with a
drunk driver in 1996 and that you are lucky to be alive today. Is that
what lead you to this program?
MS: Yes. As a matter of fact, I was in the hospital beginning my
recovery and using hypnosis to recover. I didn’t use medication at all.
We have incredible mind power and just have to learn how to tap into
that. Everyone has that ability. I just had the knowledge as to how to
do it. So that was the idea I had as I was lying in the hospital crying
and saying why me, why me. I had a broken back, a fractured skull. I was
leading brain fluid out of my nose. And I thought, ah, I can do
something for the good of society by combining my hypnosis abilities and
entertainment and my experience with the car crash.
I put it all together and designed a program that toured in high schools
for ten years. It was sponsored by insurance companies and was quite a
big tour and I am very proud of it.
