Last week I was invited to the opening of JET, the Light
Group’s newest hip Hampton style 15,000 square foot nightclub at the
MIRAGE. What’s unique about JET is that there are 3 individual rooms,
each with its own dance floor, DJ, and a sound system that caters to a
variety of individual musical tastes. The largest, main room featuring
rock, hip hop and popular dance offers occasional pumped out smoke
effects that encompass the dance floor and a ceiling grid displaying a
state of the art video light show which completes the exciting
environment. The second room has house music and the third is a
pulsating mix. JET is the first ever nightclub to open at the luxurious
Mirage, and with all it has to offer, I see it as a striking attraction
sure to lure anyone who wants to have the ultimate nightlife experience.

Popular rock band HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH will ring in
the New Year with a special live concert performance beginning 10:30PM
on Saturday, December 31, at the entertainment pavilion at the SILVERTON

Beginning January 4 and every Wednesday at 3PM in that
month, kids and their families are invited to attend the BEAN BAG FILM
FEST FOR KIDS at The Family Theatre Stage on the first floor of the LIED
DISCOVERY CHILDREN’S MUSEUM. Sponsored by the more adult oriented
CineVegas Film Festival, this family friendly film festival will feature
a diverse selection of independent and studio family features and short
films specifically made for movie audiences of all ages. An admission
ticket to the museum also includes an afternoon of films, popcorn and

If you are interested in the paranormal and supernatural,
the James Randi Educational Foundation, founded by renowned debunker
James Randi, will be presenting THE AMAZING MEETING 4 at the STARDUST
RESORT AND CASINO January 26-29, 2006. The conference themed “Science in
Politics and the Politics of Science” will have a variety of
distinguished and fascinating speakers from the fields of science, magic
and entertainment gathered together to entertain, educate and discuss
what it means to be a skeptic. The convention line-up includes among
others, such notables as Dr. Michael Shermer, Skeptic magazine’s
publisher and best selling author, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from
the Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters, Nobel laureate Murray Gell-Mann,
NASA astronomer and Saturn Vehicle designer Carolyn Porco and returning
guests, Las Vegas headliners/comedy and magic duo of Penn and Teller,
who promises many mind boggling surprises in store for this year’s
event. Registration prices vary. The cost for Foundation members is $325
and $375 for non-members. Student members can attend for $225 and
