Le
Golosita, an Italian Trattoria, Opens in Henderson
Last Tuesday evening I went to the opening of Le Golosita, an Italian
trattorria, located in Henderson that is also equipped with a pizzeria,
bakery and gelaterria on the premises offering gourmet pizzas, home made
cookies and pastries made fresh daily, plus 22 flavors of gelatos.

I was not familiar with the name of the restaurant
and curious to know how it was derived, I asked Rina Foster, one of the
PR reps for the restaurant, who informed me, “Le Golosita is a simple
word commonly used in Italian households that brings to memory the
finest mouthwatering delights. Goloso is a person who indulges in the
pleasure of fine cuisine and as a master of the art loves to share his
knowledge.” Having been educated and then experiencing the restaurant
for myself, I realized the name could not be more perfectly suited.
Le Golosita, owned and operated by the creators of Zefferino Italian
restaurant and Tintoretto Bakery at the Venetian Resort,
offers an authentic dining experience to delight the palate of any “Goloso”.
The menu features a mouthwatering selection of gourmet pizzas, panini
and focaccia sandwiches, pastas, beef and poultry entrees accompanied
with such Italian favorites as Saltimbocca alla Romana and Fracosta di
Manzo that could be enjoyed in either the indoor dining room that is
decorated in modern Italian motif, the outdoor patio area surrounded by
wrought iron, or as take out or delivery.

This particular evening the outdoor patio was
reserved for members of the media who were invited to indulge in
delicious offerings from the menu that included an array of appetizers,
entrees and desserts such as salmon on toast, shrimp & tomato in puff
pastry, a variety of cheeses and breads, melon & prosciutto slices,
chicken Marsala w/mushrooms, eggplant lasagna, lasagna, sliced pork,
shrimp and pepper skewer along with roasted potatoes and green beans,
and from the bakery (all prepared fresh daily) raspberry and plain
cheesecake, carrot cake, apple strudel, mini fruit tarts and if we
walked a few steps away to the gelateria, we had a chance to sample an
exotic assortment of sinfully scrumptious homemade gelato. Flavors
included mango, panna cotta, cherry, stracciatella, hazelnut, coconut,
lowfat yogurt, tira misu, pistachio, malaga, and coffee among others.

I must say, everything tasted exquisite and
the menu items are reasonably priced. Restaurant co-owner Dave
Williamson told me that only the best ingredients are used in preparing
the dishes and, as an example, the tomatoes are flown in from Italy.
Executive Chef Francesco Schintu’s approach to food presentation and
preparation is worth noting. As one of the co-owners of Le Golosita, he
brings his experience and talents that have made Zefferino’s one of Las
Vegas’s best restaurants. As soon as word gets out, I am sure the chef
will be adding this eatery as another feather in his (chef’s) cap.
Le Golosita is located at 9500 South Eastern Avenue, in the Sansone Park
Place Center. Dining hours are 11 a.m – 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and
till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The bakery opens at 8 am. For more
information call (702) 216-4080.
