My
Friend Robert Goulet
Las Vegans' considered Robert Goulet as one of their own as he lived
here so long while performing all over the world. He was very young when
he was recognized as one of the major "big voices" in the world while
performing in "Camelot" on Broadway. It saddened many thousand of people
all over the world with his passing. He was a man of all talents in the
entertainment field but what I liked about him so much too was his great
sense of humor. He was the absolute in "Gotcha". He pulled one of his
Gotcha gigs on me once.

After leaving as the director of Playboy Model
Agency, I became the director of Cosmopolitan Talent Agency in
Los Angeles. The enormously wealthy man that owned Cosmopolitan was a
very unusual appearing little Chinese man, who favored wearing Chinese
clothing, especially a beautiful decorated red Chinese coat. He was
possibly the biggest donor at every Thalian Ball, as well as every other
big expensive gala. He always invited me to play hostess with him and
would even let me have one table of my own to invite entertainment
industry people to. A table would cost twelve thousand dollars each and
he would usually take about 15 tables.
On this evening when Robert and Vera Goulet entered the room, I greeted
them. Goulet acknowledged me with a greeting and said, "Would you please
get that little Chinese man in the red velvet coat to get us a vodka on
the rocks". I said "Oh, would you like to meet the largest donor here
tonight - that is Milton Shoong, the fellow in the red velvet coat". I
never knew if he was kidding or not but I knew I would never ask Milton
to go get anyone a drink. The last time I saw and heard Robert Goulet
was when he appeared in all his glory at the Venetian Hotel and I was
able to take my granddaughter Jennifer Celi-Thompson with me. We were
speaking this week about how great he was and the great jokes he had in
between songs. Robert and Vera sent me a Christmas card ever since I can
remember.
This week as I was going into Jacobs-Modaber Medical building to see my
doctor, Laura Addis. Out walked Wayne Newton and his lovely wife. Both
were very friendly and charming as always and Wayne looked the picture
of health.
After a terrorizing event, Las Vegas world travelers and writers, John
and Victoria Alexander are back home from Rwanda, Africa. A mammoth size
Silver Back gorilla brushed by Victoria - the rest of other visitors
were so shocked and frighten , that no one even got a photo of it.
Victoria does not need a picture to remind her of her terrifying
experience
