We will all miss the exciting Clint Holmes when he leaves
Harrah’s soon to do his own show in New York. Clint comes from an
interesting background of music: his father was a black musician and his
Mother a white opera singer. Quite often she would sing near the end of
his show and she must be near 90. With the divorce of Clint and his wife
of so many years, it will be interesting to know where the family will
settle. Clint has been seen recently with female white entertainer Kelly
Clinton. Maybe she is part of his plans for his new show.
My old boss Hugh Hefner and I are both in our 80’s now.
He is still going strong and his new show "The Girls next Door" (those 3
beautiful blonde girls that live with him) is doing great. I had some
very exciting times working for Hef. At most parties I would see James
Caan, Tony Curtis, Married Bill Cosby with his steady girlfriend of that
time, Dudley Moore, Charlie Sheen, Abdul Jabar, Wilt Chamberlain, etc.
etc. At that time Wilt was the greatest basketball player of all time.
He was also a fabulous architect. When he would invite me up to his
home, you would cross a moat. You could not tell where the door was or a
bell to ring but you only got that far anyway by invitation. So then the
entire 3 floors would turn and that was the entrance. There was not one
square room in the house. All rooms were round or horizontal. At a flip
of a switch, the top floor would open up and then the entire sky was the
roof. Many a Governor of California would seek out Wilt’s home for
important parties as it was the most unique and splendid home in the
United States. If I had more room I could tell you about our business
talks and plans In the meantime there is so much to enjoy here
every single day and night.
The recent Luau at the Imperial Palace was better than
ones I had in Hawaii. In addition to the entertainment and audience
participation, it was lovely.
The Sopranos Last Supper was a marvelous, funny spoof on
the "Mob" plus the beautiful Bada Bing beautiful body girls and then an
Italian meal to die for. Lots of audience participation which everyone
enjoyed being part of.
If you are in the mood for Himalayan Cuisine - then it is
a must to give yourself a treat to that at 730 E. Flamingo Rd.
Reba McEntire’s performance at the Hilton was very
exciting but would have been even more so had the instruments not
drowned most of hersinging.
Remember the road to success is ignorance. When I crossed
a picket line to get a job at Columbia Studios, I ask the guard why
those people in a line outside were calling me a scab! I got the job
because no one else was crossing their line. I really had fallen off of
the turnip truck coming from a little-bity country town in Texas. What
did I know about picket lines!
