 Tempest Storm

Tempest Storm is a beautiful red headed Burlesque Queen. She has class, sophistication and a fantastic body with measurements of 42-21-34. I was passing by the Bettie Page Clothing Store in Planet Hollywood when I saw her surrounded by young beauties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempest_Storm  I asked her to be on our radio show because I knew she would have great stories to tell us. We were not disappointed. Tempest will be meeting her fans at the store again next month.

Tempest Storm was born in a small country town in Eastman, GA and thought there must be a better life. After moving to a few larger towns in Georgia she went to California and worked as a cocktail waitress. She was spotted and appointments were made for her to interview at the Follies Theater. Tempest was naïve. When told about strip tease she asked “What’s that” and said it was something she would never do. But, that is history.

Tempest started her career in 1951 and played in many Las Vegas hotel casino’s including the Aladdin, Hacienda and Dunes. Famous celebrities like Elvis, Vic Damone, Engelbert Humperdinck and a young senator JFK dated Tempest. When asked who was the best she said “Elvis is still the King”. He was 22, she was 29 and she taught him everything he knew. She reminisced about the days of burlesque when there were comics, big bands, fabulous wardrobes and the tease. Tempest was a first class act and lived by that from day one. That is why she has lasted this long. As the best undressed star, she left something to the imagination.

At first she was asked if she liked the name Sunny Day. She said she didn’t feel like a Sunny Day, so she took the name Tempest Storm. A beautiful name for a beautiful lady.

Before she went into show business she worked at Simon’s Drive In in Los Angeles as a car hop and that is where she met Bugsy Siegel who she dated. She didn’t know anything about Bugsy, only that he was handsome. On the night that Bugsy was blown away she had cancelled a date with him because she had to work. Wow.

Tempest Storm and Bettie Page starred In the movie Teasearama in 1955

Last week Tempest was presented with the Sweet Louie Award at Bootleggers for the First Living Legend Award. She is planning to write another book. There is talk of a movie being made of her life. Christina Aguilera has been mentioned to star in the role. Tempest said she would like Catherine Zita Jones to play her in the movie. Can you picture Catherine with flaming red hair? Another Wow. In 2004 at the Tropicana Hotel, The Legend Hall of Fame Award was given to Tempest Storm.

On June 5th at the Palms Hotel, Tempest will be performing in the World’s Burlesque Show. This is a show you cannot miss.

 Vegas Mob Tour

When Robert Allen started a ghost tour called Haunted Vegas Tour everyone kept asking the same question every night. “Is the mob still here”? Robert decided to join forces with Dennis Griffin, author of “The Battle For Las Vegas” and “Culotta”. The tour is based on facts from Denny’s books. He interviewed FBI agents, former law men, mobsters and actual mob participants. www.dennisngriffin.com  www.vegasmobtour.com  The movie “Casino” was based on these books. Denny is a retired Director of Investigations in New York State Dept.

The tour guides are stand up comics who are very entertaining. The 2½ hour tour goes to the murder sites, car bombings and old mob hang outs where you see the dark and sinister side of Las Vegas. Flat screen TV’s on board also show the actual places. No opinions are given. Just facts and the facts are fascinating.

Everyone loves to hear stories about the mob and both Robert and Dennis are experts. So get a ticket, climb aboard, sit back and relax and have an enjoyable evening. I will be going on the tour on April 28th and I would love to meet and talk to all of you. There will be a surprise guest on the bus that night too, so don’t miss it.
