Ice:
Direct From Russia
Ice: Direct From Russia features 42 amazing skaters, most of whom
have been skating since they could walk. The show is a cultural phenomenon in
Russia. The performers have great acrobatic skills and they move gracefully on the
ice. Before the show starts, there is a young beautiful girl on stilts,
that are ice skates, skating behind a sheer blue curtain. The
stage is dimly lit in a pale blue light creating a chilly feeling of the
cold ice.

The curtains open revealing the skaters dressed in traditional Russian
Garb, in black fur hats and coats. It felt like the
days of “Dr. Zhivago. Their skating was precision perfect. They
commanded the stage with a runway of ice stretching into the
audience
which offered a close look at all the beautiful young skaters. I was
seated in the second row and I felt like I was part of the show.

A stunning number featured a couple who
danced with white kites. It looked as if they transformed into birds
with wings.
The dance was so romantic; the music was spectacular and fit every
dance. In between dances three men who acted as comic relief came out playing their
violins, telling jokes, and trying to speak English.

The balancing acts, the unicycles, a couple swinging on hanging hula
hoops, a man in a huge circular German Wheel rolling and
spinning around the entire stage and
men who flipped the women around in circles with
their heads barely missing the ice were outstanding. Other acts
included a giant see-saw with
every one being flipped around. It was magical and was all done on
skates.
My favorite part was watching a beautiful young girl spinning hula
hoops around her entire body. I have never seen anyone spin so many hula
hoops around their body.

Ice: Direct From Russia is adapted from the Moscow Ice Circus and directed by Debra
Brown. She has to be proud of this electrifying ice show. The musical
background includes everything from classical, R&B and rock, along with
live musicians who also take to the ice.
The audience was mesmerized by the show as it is quite different from
any other show in Las Vegas.
After the performance we met with some of the cast members. who were young,
beautiful and sweet.

Ice: Direct From Russia can be seen at the Riviera at 8:00pm.I highly
recommend it.
The
Innocence and Wisdom of Youth
By Michelle Nicole

After all this time inside me it still lies
It could swallow me whole, it never dies
It taunts me with faults I wish didn't exist
It's gift to me was purity and thinness of which I've surely missed
It's curse was an infinite emptiness that was never satisfied
Day by day I was bound to rules I must abide
At the time it all seemed worthwhile
Dying a slow death and walking a glorious mile
All the while I was chasing a deadly dream
I was ripping apart and tearing at the seams
Perfection was the goal that got farther away
I never seemed to get there but to the voices I still obeyed
When all you want is thinness but all you get is death
A bittersweet life is all you'll get until nothing is left
