local favorite. Features within its 6,000 square foot of space includes
30 plasma TV’s, IGT Game King machines with 15” plasma flat screen
monitors and a food menu consisting of PT’s signature hand rolled thin
crust pizza, a variety of flame broiled burgers, specialty sandwiches,

Paradise Cantina, which offers not only delicious Mexican food and
drinks, great service and a fun atmosphere celebrated its one year
anniversary by doing something special in order to give back to the
community. Starting at 4PM on August 26 they threw a big party for an
honorable charity that took place both in doors and outside of their
venue in the parking lot on the corner of Paradise and Harmon. Proceeds
from the event were then donated to the Firefighters of Southern Nevada
Burn Foundation, a non-profit organization, to provide assistance to
those burn victims in need of surgery, rent, food, clothing and other
expenses. As part of this fundraiser, inside the cantina there was a
silent auction that included a variety of items such as a pair of
tickets to see Danny Gans, a package of 5 cabanas at the Hard Rock Hotel
and Casino, an original Hanna Barbera, Jerry (from Tom and Jerry)
cartoon cell worth $1,000, a fashionable ladies purse, Starbucks coffee
and more. In the heat of the outdoors there were many ways to get
refreshed while contributing to a good cause. Fun activities included
taking your best shot at a volunteer in the dunk tank and engaging in a
water balloon fight. Also in attendance were mornings/weekend disc
jockey “Drew” from alternative rock radio station 107.9 also known as
“Area 108” along with his adorable and perky promotions assistant, Joey
(a she, not a he) giving away T-shirts, concert tickets and film passes,
and two reps from Gangster, on online snowboarding company who sold T
shirts, tank tops and caps with their logo. Hats off to the Paradise
Cantina and all involved in an effort to make a difference for Southern
Nevadans in need.

The Mens Apparel Guild of California Convention, more commonly known as
MAGIC, convened in Las Vegas from August 28-31, and to take advantage of
the host city, during the after hours the very hippest designers threw
bashes at some of the hottest nightspots as another means to show off
their latest collection of threads. Tod and Guliana, creators of Junker
Designs whose edgy fashions have been seen on such rockers as Dave
Navarro, Areosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Britney Spears and Alice Cooper, to
name a few and featured on Rock Star: Supernova, picked a totally
appropriate venue, The Rainbow Bar and Grill, considering it’s a haven
for visiting rock stars, to throw what can best be described as a rockin
late night fashion show on August 28. Guests were given a special peak
at their debuted designs worn on vampy looking models, which included
adult film star Stormy Daniels, each strutting their stuff and making
outrageous poses, the wilder the better, with welcoming screams from the
audience. The king and queen of the evening was of course, Tod and
Guliana but also in attendance to support the duo were jeans designer
Matias Sandoval, Junker Design poster girl Nikki Zambo, Micki Schneider,
head of production for Junker, and Snac, designer of a men’s fashion
line funded by singer Macy Gray. The entire Junker Design collection
(which, I was told was created in just two weeks, according to Lincoln
Gasking, one of their L.A. reps) consists of one of a kind garments for
both men and women who have what it takes to wear such fashions and run
the gamut from sexy and provocative to over the top, draw dropping,
cutting edge styles. Not for the conservative, it is clear the fashions
have been influenced by punk rock and heavy metal. Over dyed, painted,
mutated and even bled on, each dress, shirt, jacket or any of their
other hand made garments is a work of art, made from materials such as
denim, leather, vintage army fabrics, deerskin and cashmere and
“whatever else they (the designers) can get their hands on” (their
words, not mine). So, if you can’t live the rock star life, at least you
can dress like them according to the designers who have created the line
for both stars and wannabees alike. For more information about Tod and
Guliana’s fashions go to
