ASD/AMD Merchandise Show Can Get It
For You Wholesale
The Las Vegas ASD/AMD Merchandise Show filled The Sands Expo Center &
Las Vegas Convention Center and The Events Center & Grand Ballroom of
the Mirage as it swept into town from August 10-13. As the nation's
largest merchandise show, ASD/AMD is comprised of the Variety
Merchandise Show, the Gift Show, the Jewelry Show and the Military
Tactical Outdoor Show.

More than 3,500 Exhibitors from around the world converged on the
venues, separated into specialized sections: Gifts & More, Specialty &
Gourmet Foods, Furniture & Home Decor, Value Apparel, Fashion
Accessories, Tools & Hardware, Variety and General Merchandise, and the
decidedly man-friendly Military Tactical Outdoor (Army Navy surplus,
guns, sporting goods).
ASD/AMD is a wholesale event that is open to trade only and not the
public.
Founded in 1961, the ASD/AMD product portfolio connects sellers from
manufacturing to wholesale distribution with buyers from independent
retailers to international chain stores. Ever wonder how your favorite
dollar store or gift shop gets stocked? It all begins right here.
Discount, closeout and related price-point merchandise is located at the
Las Vegas Convention Center; variety, novelty and associated categories
are housed at the Sands Expo Center.
At The Mirage Events Center & Grand Ballroom, The Jewelry Show hosted
more than 350 companies in 700 exhibits provide the broadest possible
selection of wholesale fine and fashion jewelry at single show. Over at
The Sands Expo Center, The Gift Show is the largest national show of its
kind in the West.

More than 150 categories of merchandise are exhibited, including general
merchandise, giftware, toys, jewelry (eight categories), fashion
accessories, collectibles, house wares, army-navy surplus, seasonal
goods, sunglasses, cosmetics, tools, watches, clothing, art glass,
perfume, handbags, clocks, automotive, luggage, acrylic nails, watches,
hats sunglasses and cell phone holders by the mile. You’d be fortunate
to be at such a show in the event of a national emergency; it could
supply you with any type necessity for long-term survival.

Although you can find all of the usual household goods, gadgets and
glassware in the galaxy, you’ll also stumble across unusual discoveries
like a whole table full of gargoyles and gemstones. Whole booths are
dedicated to bracelets. Others proudly display jumper cables. Handbags
hang from racks like peculiar, multi-colored fruit. Bongs beckon under
the guise of hand-blown art glass. Dramatic displays stand out amid the
hundreds of carpeted aisles that invite you to peruse their offerings.

Take Western Fashion Inc. for example. The Chino, California, company
may have Western in the title, but is definitely run with an Eastern
flair for the exotic, and proprietor Punkash Gupta is its smiling
ambassador. From sparkly crystal and coin jewelry to full belly-dancing
regalia, shawls, and silk fabrics for men and women, Western Fashion
Inc. offers unusual and unique imports for the customer who will not be
caught wearing the mundane or uninspired. It was here that I discovered
that whisper-thin, see-through tops serve the purpose of highlighting
shiny metal bras. There’s no such thing as unadorned skin, with the
addition of temporary tattoos, bracelets, and bangles forged
specifically for the feminine form. Gupta is also a regular exhibitor at
the annual Magic Show, which will give you an idea of the dramatic flair
to his fashions and accessories.

Other ASD/AMD shows take place in New York and Atlantic City. The next
one will take place from September 14-16 in New York City. The show
returns to Las Vegas from March 15-19, 2009. As their own promotional
brochure declares, “If you can dream it, you can buy it at ASD/AMD Las
Vegas!”
