Vegas Uncork’d welcomed Palazzo After Hours- Crushed: Wine that Rocks!

Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:30 p.m. Vegas Uncork'd presented Palazzo After Hours- Crushed: Wine that Rocks, poolside at The Palazzo. The evening’s festivities kicked off at 10:00pm with a red carpet filled with world-renowned chefs and celebrities. The list included: winemaker Joe Bastianich, editor in chief of Bon Appetit Barbara Fairchild, actor Chazz Palminteri from A Bronx Tale, actor Rick Faugno of Jersey Boys, actress Laura Prepon of That 70’s Show, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Six Foot Nurse. The list of star-studded chefs in attendance was incredible as Zach Allen of Carnevino, Vince Chiyuto of Lagasse’s Stadium, Sam DeMarco of FIRST Food & Bar, Frank and Carla Pellegrino of Rao’s, Luciano Pellegrini of Valentino, Tom Moloney of Aquaknox, Scott Linquist of Dos Caminos, Rene Langer of The Country Club at Wynn, and Roberto Hernandez of Dos Caminos all came out to support this spectacular event.

At 11:00pm, Six Foot Nurse took the stage and got the party started by playing some rock ‘n roll classics. Following was Bon Appetit restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton welcoming guests and introducing the night’s host, Joe Bastianich. Bastianich, restaurateur, winemaker and rock and roller discussed his philosophy on how he pairs the great wines of the world with the greatest music of all time. Accompanied by Scott Ian of Anthrax and the electrifying band Six Foot Nurse, Bastianich discussed the evening’s line-up and how he would take guests and chefs on a synesthetic exploration of explosive tunes from Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, asking them to listen with their palates and taste with their ears. Wines selected to complement the evening’s rock ‘n roll program comprised a veritable tour of the globe’s most exhilarating offerings: Joe Bastianich’s own Sauvignon Blanc from his own winery in Italy’s famed Friuli region, William Hill Chardonnay from California’s Napa Valley, Kaiken Ultra Malbec from Argentina, Yangarra Shiraz from South Australia, Bisol Prosecco from Valdobbiadene, Italy, and the sparkling dessert wine Marenco Brachetto from the Piemonte region.

Along with outstanding wines, this poolside after‐hours celebration featured signature bites from the all‐star lineup at The Palazzo, including Bangin’ Mini’s from First Food and Bar Executive Chef Sam DeMarco, salumi and cheese from Executive Chef Zach Allen of Carnevino, and a Rockin' Wing Bar from Chef de Cuisine Vince Chiyuto of Lagasse's Stadium.
