Murray’s unique blend of comedy and magic along with his numerous television appearances and his 18 years of international touring is the perfect fit for the Laugh Factory Las Vegas’ multi-venue comedy experience. Much like the Laugh Factory Las Vegas, Murray brings something fresh and exciting to the New Tropicana Las Vegas with his signature spiky blonde hair, black designer glasses and charismatic performance style. Staged in the intimate venue, the show features two of Murray’s signature illusions performed on a 360 degree platform located in the middle of the audience, that allows the surrounding audience to have a rare, up close and personal magic experience in which they can see behind, in front and on the sides of the illusion and magic.

Sneak Peak of Surf The Musical Set to Open at Planet Hollywood

Tuesday night, May 29, members of the press were invited to a sneak peak of the nostalgic rock n roll musical, Surf The Musical, featuring the hits of the Beach Boys, which is set to debut at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino this summer.  Preview performances begin the week of June 11 with a Gala VIP and media night Grand Opening scheduled for July 17.

Broadway's hottest young director Kristin Hanggi, fresh off the heels of the worldwide success of her hit musical, Rock Of Ages, was on hand to provide a behind-the-scenes taste of the show in progress, that included few musical numbers, some costumes (a throw back to fashions from the early 60's) and set renderings from the show that is described as “a carefree story of good vibrations set in the nostalgic, happy times of the 1960s Southern California beach community.”  Hanggi was joined by choreographer RJ Durell, who said he incorporated “a mixture of different styes of dance including swing and 60's moves and went to New York and Los Angeles in search of the best talent.  I feel like all of us are taking the 60's and turning it upside down and giving it a modern twist to make it fun, fun, fun...pun intended (in reference to those memorable, repetitive Beach Boy lyrics)”.

“We want to capture the essence of what made the (Beach Boys) music great,” said Hanggi. “When I read the script, I started getting vision of what it would be.” She then added,  “The show is “a love letter to Southern California, all the families, and those they touched.”

Celebs hit The Palazzo Las Vegas for Simon G. Jewelry "Summer Soiree"

In celebration of the JCK jewelry convention and to help The Palazzo Las Vegas kick off its first ever Carnevale celebrations, celebrity-adored brand Simon G. Jewelry threw its annual Simon G. Jewelry "Summer Soiree" Saturday night, June 2, at Azure at The Palazzo. Stylish guests included George Clooney's gal pal Stacy Keibler, Pamela Anderson, Giuliana Rancic, Melissa Rycroft and husband Tye Strickland, Cheryl Burke, Audrina Patridge, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, Gilles and Carole Marini, Patti Stanger of "Millionaire Matchmaker," celeb stylist and member of the E!'s "Fashion Police" George Kotsiopoulos and many others.

The night's festivities kicked off with comedian and host Dannon Green taking the stage to introduce the Soiree's charity partner Generosity Water while fire dancers continued the entertainment by taking a dip in the pool with their sparklers. Red carpet darlings Audrina Patridge (in Gloss Army), Melissa Rycroft (in a BCBG Max Azria dress she borrowed from Rent The Runway), Cheryl Burke (in Bebe), Lisa Rinna (in a vintaga Gucci dress and Aldo shoes), Pamela Anderson (wearing Palladium Jewelry by Simon G) and more, dazzled in the latest from Simon G. Cheryl Burke said on the red carpet that she is excited about The Palazzo's Carnevale celebrations, which feature three months of classic Italian festivities through new experiences, entertainment, art, music, and wine from June 4 to Sept. 9.

Stacy Keibler showed up in a blue sequined Herve Leger number accessorized with Simon G. earrings, saying they were the perfect pair to dress up any outfit. "They are classic and elegant," she said. And while she copped to enjoying the nightlife and the restaurants at The Palazzo, she's counting down the days until she reunites with her beau. "I'm off to Europe next week," she said.

Giuliana Rancic, in simple and elegant Simon G. Jewelry earrings, was in town to host the Miss USA pageant and said she's looking forward to expanding her family with the addition of a new baby in three months saying that she hasn't decided on a name just yet because "people say you have to wait until the baby is born to name it." She also admitted to missing hubby Bill. "I've never done Vegas, which to us is The Palazzo, without him in the past five years," she said.

Patti Stanger wowed in Rachel Zoe and an $80,000 Simon G. Jewelry necklace and said that from bridal pieces to colored stones, Simon G. Jewelry is always her first stop when shopping for the latest and greatest baubles. Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland raved about The Palazzo and the Azure Pool calling it "the best place on earth."

Celebs feasted on signature dishes from Lagasse's Stadium, and toasted with champagne and Diosa Tequila, all while taking full advantage of the photo booth on hand.  Musical entertainment was provided by KC and the Sunshine Band who enticed guests to kick off their heels and dance in the pool. The evening was a smashing success for Simon G. Jewelry, the family-owned and run company that has been decking out red carpet beauties and girls next door alike for years. In addition to debuting their new collection, Simon G. Jewelry also announced their new line of colored diamond jewelry called 'Midnight'.

The Bourbon Room Grand Opening at The Venetian Announces "Rock of Ages"

The Bourbon Room at The Venetian made its grand opening on June 1, with a surprise flash performance announcing the newest entertainment residency, Rock of Ages.

As guests enjoyed signature bourbon cocktails and listened to the tunes of classic hairband music videos, more than forty dancers joined the party in their raddest ‘80s attire, jumping up on the banisters and making their way through the crowd to the tunes of “Cum on Feel the Noize,” “I Wanna Rock” and “Nothin’ But a Good Time.”

While the flash performance dancers made their way to the stage, president and chief operating officer of The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo, John Caparella, took to the stage to address the crowd. “We’re bringing you back to the ‘80s when VJs ruled the universe and when classic rock was called rock. We went to Broadway, we saw a show and we said, ‘This is what we have to bring to Las Vegas.’ And that show is ‘Rock of Ages.’ So, beginning in December of this year, you will be able to see ‘Rock of Ages’ perform here nightly and at the end of the show the party will carry on right here in the Bourbon Room.”

To commemorate the exciting news, Mr. Caparella led the crowd with a toast of bourbon.

“When we first conceived the show we always had an eye for Vegas because it felt like the right environment for the type of show we wanted to make, which was just a ridiculous, fun, no excuses, just have a good time, leave your inhibitions at the door kind of Broadway experience,” said Chris D’Arienze, writer of “Rock of Ages.” “So to bring it here to Vegas feels like home for our show.”

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hosts TROPFEST the World's Largest Short Film Festival

On Sunday, June 3, the world's largest short film festival, Tropfest, wrapped up its first festival in Las Vegas.  The festival served as a celebration of Tropfest’s 20th official birthday during a weekend  of free, mostly outdoor events that were held June 1 – 3.

The festivities kicked off on Friday, June 1 with a Tropfest welcome party and musical performance by R&B / Soul artist Allen Stone at casino floor hotspot Book & Stage.  Stone’s expertly crafted, evocative songs and fresh, smooth, soul-filled voice got the capacity crowd moving and excited for the weekend ahead.

Saturday night, June 2, Tropfest threw a 20th Birthday celebration at the Boulevard Pool, an intimate outdoor venue perched high above the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.  The party began with a special “Road to Vegas” screening featuring films submitted by amateur short film makers centering on the theme of traveling to Las Vegas. The top six entries were shown, including the first prize submission by Rakitha Perera, who won a three-night stay at The Cosmopolitan and VIP entrance to Tropfest Las Vegas.

The party continued with screenings of specially curated short film content that gave festival goers a taste of Tropfest’s rich 20 year history, including celebrated filmmaker Nash Edgerton’s award-winning short films “Spider” and sequel, “Bear.”  Indie-spirited Delta Spirit, who are set to play Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza this summer, took to the stage following the screenings and continued the party late into the night.

Tropfest’s “All-Star Competition” on Sunday night, June 3, began with the arrival of the competition’s celebrities on the black carpet.  Those in attendance included the competition’s host Rob Corddry (The Daily Show, Hot Tub Time Machine, Childrens Hospital), President of the Jury Toni Collette (Jesus Henry Christ, United States of Tara), jurors Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, What To Expect When You’re Expecting), Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace, Happy Feet), Griffin Dunne (House of Lies, An American Werewolf in London), Charles Randolph (writer/producer, Love And Other Drugs, The Interpreter) and Trevor Groth (Sundance Director of Programming).  Also in attendance at the festival was actor Tobey Maguire, James Woods, Jason Gann (Wilfred) and Abbie Cornish (Somersault, Sucker Punch).

16 films representing some of the best Tropfest entries of the past two decades vied for the top prize at the “All-Star Competition.” The films, each less than seven minutes in length, were hand-picked by Tropfest founder and acclaimed director John Polson (Hide & Seek, Tenderness) and represented a wide cross section of work.  In the end, “The Story of Bubble Boy” directed by Sean Ascroft was declared the winner of the inaugural competition.  The film, which features a sad outcast wrestling with his demons, is about being trapped by the past and redeemed by the future.

Singer-songwriter-artist LP closed out the “All-Star Competition” with a spirited performance highlighted by ear-catching vocals.
