Attendees were invited to kick off the night at Gold Lounge with signature libations from Captain Morgan. During the cocktail hour, Las Vegas’ own Glass Handbags previewed an exclusive showcase of its newest collection and treated the first 100 ladies through the door with complimentary gift bags.
The party continued at Haze Nightclub where host and BMX Rider Ricardo Laguna helped the magazine celebrate 13 years with cocktails provided by Crown Royal and a Las Vegas Weekly inspired cake designed by Layers Bakery. Notable guests included Las Vegas Weekly Publisher Travis Keys and Editor Sarah Feldberg, Miss Nevada 2011 Alana Lee, the cast of Thunder From Down Under and Zowie Bowie and Marley Taylor.
2012 Miss America Contestants Arrive at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
On Thursday, January 5, All 53 contestants competing for the 2012 Miss America Pageant debuted in their EXPRESS fashions at the annual arrival ceremony at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Returning to the Theatre for the Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino for the seventh consecutive year, the contestants’ arrival kicked off a week of preliminary competitions (interview, lifestyle and fitness, talent and evening wear), culminating in the live telecast on ABC, Saturday, Jan. 14 at 9 p.m. (EST)/tape delay (PST).

On hand to welcome and introduce the 2012 Miss America Contestants were Rossi Ralenkotter, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; Tom Collins, Commissioner and Board Chair of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; David Hoenemeyer, Regional President of Bally's, Paris and Planet Hollywood; Sam Haskell, III, Chairman of the Board of the Miss America Organization and Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization.
This year’s Quality of Life finalists were also announced at the ceremony.

The Quality of Life Awards were introduced in 1988 to recognize contestants who excel in their commitment to community service. In order to be considered for the Quality of Life Award, contestants must submit an application describing their involvement with Children's Miracle Network, the national platform of the Miss America Organization, and their own personal platform issue.
The winner of the Quality of Life Award will receive a $6,000 scholarship, the first runner-up will win a $4,000 scholarship, and the second runner-up will win a $2,000 scholarship. Winners will be announced at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on January 14 during the 3:00 p.m. (PST) press conference.
“Vegas Magic Theatre” Opens at Gold Coast Hotel and Casino
British magic show producer Paul Stone recently opened his latest production “Vegas Magic Theatre” in the Showroom at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino.
Magic shows come and go in Las Vegas. What makes this show different than any other is the line up of three to four acts consisting of award winning magicians, masters of illusions and outstanding variety and specialty acts from around the world, that change on a weekly basis, creating an original experience each time audiences pay a visit. For additional enjoyment, one hour prior to show time audiences are invited into the Magic Lounge in front of the theatre to watch performers entertain with superb close-up magic and card readings, which adds a unique twist to the “magical” experience.
During the celebratory “official” launch of the show on Friday evening January 5, there were several notable faces among the invited guests in attendance. Gold Coast General Manager, Kerrie Burke took to the stage introducing magicians Siegfried (of Siegfried and Roy fame) and Lance Burton, the hunks from Thunder From Down Under, and Boyd Gaming Chairman, Bill Boyd who were seated in the audience.
Host and emcee for the fast paced 70 minute show is handsome and very personable Ben Stone, who also gets a chance to showcase his strong singing voice and skills as a magician in between acts. Cast for the week included street magician Adam Flowers who, the last few years, could be seen performing outdoors at the Fremont Street Experience; Mike Douglas from the Magic Castle in California; comedy juggler Michael Goudeau and his assistant Tom Lange, and headliner comedy illusionist Murray and his assistant Lefty. TV audiences know Murray as a semi finalist on Americas Got Talent where he wowed the judges and has since gained international acclaim. Special guest for the evening was former season three American Idol season finalist, the lovely and talented Jasmine Trias, who mesmerized the audience with her beautiful voice.

While the line up of acts disappear on a weekly basis, one thing is for sure, Vegas Magic Theatre is one of the best entertainment values in town and I don't expect the show to disappear from the scene anytime soon. Perfectly suited for all ages, tickets are priced at a very affordable $14.95, plus tax and convenience fees. Primm Valley Casino Resorts will partner with Hispanic superstar RAMON AYALA to debut the first RAMON AYALA COCINA & CANTINA in the United States. LAX Nightclub inside Luxor kicked off the New Year's Eve celebrations with a UFC after fight party welcoming UFC fighters Erik Apple and Jake Shields to host an unforgettable night.

Reality star and fashionista, Nicole Richie, NBA legend, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, and gorgeous singer, Brandy, also celebrated the end of the year at the stylish nightclub.
Sorrentino arrived hand-in-hand with a stunning brunette, and stayed close by her side throughout the evening. He was also joined also by his mom, Linda, his sister, Melissa, and his two brothers Marc and Frank Jr.
Good Charlotte performed with the backdrop of the Bellagio fountains and the Las Vegas Strip on the rooftop nightclub of Chateau Gardens. LAX Nightclub welcomed 2012 with a bang as GRAMMY® Award-winning hip-hop star B.o.B hosted an unforgettable New Year’s Eve bash.
Welcoming the New Year at Hyde Bellagio were Sofia Vergara, Joe Jonas, Leona Lewis, Eliza Dushku, Emile Hirsch, Wilmer Valderrama, Lauren Conrad, Stephanie Pratt, Eric Stonestreet, Amber Lancaster and the Lakers’ Rick Fox, among others.
A proud Sam Nazarian, Founder and CEO of sbe, said, “Tonight is an amazing night, because sbe is coming to Las Vegas Bellagio has opened its beautiful home on the 50-yard line of the Bellagio Fountains [for Hyde Bellagio].”
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas rang in 2012 by hosting a New Year’s Eve bash headlined by legendary artist, songwriter, musician and producer Stevie Wonder.
The evening began at 9:30 p.m. inside The Chelsea, the resorts indoor concert venue, with an electrifying performance by DJ Mia Moretti and violinist Caitlin Moe followed by a set from Mayer Hawthorne & The County. At 11 p.m., Wonder took to the main stage and rocked the crowd with hits such as “Master Blaster”, “Overjoyed,” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)”. Later in the evening Tyrese Gibson joined Wonder on stage to sing along for several songs, including “Superstition.”
Notable names in attendance at the celebration included Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox, Master Chef and television personality Curtis Stone, singer Brandy Norwood, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and husband Mauricio Umansky, Faye Resnick and Mark Foster of the band Foster the People.
A second New Year’s Eve party was held high above Las Vegas Boulevard at the Boulevard Pool.
Those in attendance, as well as revelers down below on The Strip, were able to see and listen to a live broadcast of Wonder’s performance on The Cosmopolitan’s Strip-side 65’ digital marquee. The party also featured premium views of the midnight fireworks.
Following their opening performance for Wonder, Mayer Hawthorne & The County took over Book & Stage and rocked a capacity crowd, The Chandelier featured the unique sounds of DJ Mia Moretti and violinist Caitlin Moe, and DJ Eddie Edge kept the crowd going late into the night at Bond. At Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub, DJ Kaskade rocked a sold out crowd.
Pamela Anderson hosted an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration at Studio 54 inside MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. She was accompanied by her pro surfer boyfriend Jon Rose and friends.

Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent made a late night arrival at Marquee with a large group of friends as DJ Fred Matters entertained them with a selection of hip hop. Lil Kim joined the group, requesting her own songs.
Wilmer Valderrama arrived around 3:30 am, as did Lauren Conrad and Frankie Delgado. Topher Grace also was a late night arrival to Marquee at around 4 am and Mark Ballas arrived just before 5 am to catch his set. Stephanie Pratt was at Marquee as was Vladimir Doronin.

Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Holly Madison and Ronnie Ortiz-Margo all kicked off their New Year's Eve festivities with dinner and shopping at Sugar Factory American Brasserie inside Paris Las Vegas. Also seen at the sweet spot was Ortiz-Margo of MTV's "Jersey Shore" crew. The tough guy sweetened up to Sugar Factory's Couture Pops and signature T-shirts.

After dining at Sugar Factory Kourtney Kardashian and boyfriend, Scott Disick and from "Keeping Up with The Kardashians,", led the crowd in a New Years Eve countdown at the stunning rooftop nightclub, Chateau Gardens as other celebrity guests, including Joel Madden and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” counted along.
Joel and Benji played a midnight DJ set, spinning an eclectic mix to the delight of club goers. The tattoed rock stars led the crowd in a countdown and extended a New Year greeting to the crowd.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro sat in the middle of Chateau Gardens with friends, politely ignoring the advances of female admirers.
LAVO kicked off the New Year on Sunday with a Hung-over and Broke party hosted by Kreayshawn, who surprised the crowd with her song Gucci, Gucci. She was joined on stage by Vanessa “V-Nasty” Reece and happily posed for photos with fans throughout the night.
Mark Foster from Foster the People was spotted dining at LAVO with Emile Hirsch.
DJ Kaskade was also spotted dining at LAVO, refueling from his New Year’s Eve set at Marquee. After his dinner at LAVO he headed up to the club.
Redfoo and the Party Rock crew also feasted at LAVO before hitting the club, where they were surprised with a cake celebrating their song “Sexy and I Know It” hitting #1 on the charts.
Later in the night Wilmer Valderrama joined the party in the club and wasted no time getting into the booth with DJ Eric DLux and taking over the mic.

Actor Taye Diggs and his wife actress Idina Menzel attended the Strip’s favorite show ABSINTHE on to enjoy the raucous comedy from The Gazillionaire, Penny Pibbets and the rest of the eccentric gang. After taking in the show, Diggs and Menzel hung out with the cast afterwards.

Actress Margot Robbie from ABC’s Pan Am also dined at LAVO, wrapping up her first visit to Las Electronic dance music phenomenon, deadmau5, headed to Las Vegas for a trifecta of celebrations: his birthday, the launch of his exclusive 2012 residency with Wynn Las Vegas at XS nightclub, and most notably, Mayor Carolyn Goodman proclaiming it officially “deadmau5 Day” in the city of Las Vegas.
deadmau5, (aka Joel Zimmerman), arrived at the prestigious nightclub just before midnight, where the XS staff took over the mic to lead thousands of clubgoers in serenading him with “Happy Birthday.” Twenty beautiful cocktail servers marched on stage with a five-tier cake, created by Las Vegas bakery Gimme Some Sugar. Each tier had an iconic theme from the residency announcement where deadmau5 attempted several jobs around Wynn Resorts, including lifeguard and golf caddie, before finding he was best suited performing at XS.
Just before his set, XS Co-Owner and Managing Partner Jesse Waits presented deadmau5 with the official proclamation on behalf of Mayor Goodman as confetti cannons exploded into the crowd. He immediately jumped behind the booth to kick off his partnership which will include several dates throughout the year at XS and Encore Beach Club.

At TAO, Apl.de.Ap launched the hot spot’s new Friday night programming, treating club goers to a two hour set that included everything from hip hop to house to Journey and of course, many Black Eyed Peas hits. He fueled up before hitting the club with signature dishes at TAO Asian Bistro then took in the sounds of DJ Politik before getting on the decks himself.
