Additional recent and upcoming “happenings” in and around Las Vegas include:

United Way of Southern Nevada's Volunteer Center Celebrated 'Make a Difference Day' on Saturday, October 23, by hosting hands-on projects at various elementary schools throughout the Valley. More than 190 individuals volunteered their time to help create a better community across southern Nevada on “Make A Difference Day,” the largest national day geared to help others.

Volunteers created a sustainable resource for students by preparing a community garden at Imagine 100 Academy of Excellence, located in North Las Vegas. In Henderson, at Fay Galloway Elementary School, volunteers helped revitalized and organized an accelerated reader program. In addition, they added a mural to brighten the learning environment. Volunteers also helped transform Richard J. Rundle Elementary School into a beautiful and cleaner campus by painting a mural and refreshing the central courtyard. Local community sponsors that helped on “Make A Difference Day” included, The Home Depot and MGM Resorts International.

United Way’s Young Philanthropists Society Hosted its Inaugural Luncheon on Tue., Oct. 26. Young professionals, ages 20 to 40, joined together to show support for creating real and lasting change in the community through philanthropic efforts, advocacy and volunteerism.

More than 130 guests listened to keynote speaker and football legend, Napoleon McCallum deliver an inspiring message on the power of being a driving force in the community. Dave Hall, anchor for FOX 5 News and Dayna Roselli, anchor of 8 News NOW This Morning served together as the co-master of ceremonies.

Guests were also able to see the type of events the organization puts on, including their coat drive that took place from Sept. 27 to Oct. 26. The group collected 388 coats for children in need at Howard Hollingsworth Elementary School. Now boasting a membership of 94, YPS was able to raise $51,910 at the event.

The event fea­tured a per­for­mance by the Sexy cast of Striptease The Show and the tal­ented per­form­ers of Recy­cled Percussion. An over­whelm­ing 305,000 caps and tabs were col­lected in just three months, with a total weight of 1,480 pounds, as part of “Miller High Life’s Mil­i­tary Pro­gram” – a part­ner­ship ben­e­fit­ing the Iraq and Afghanistan Vet­er­ans of Amer­ica with up to $1 mil­lion in cash. The Sahara was the largest sin­gle con­trib­u­tor of caps and can tabs in the United States.

Disney’s award-winning Broadway phenomenon THE LION KING has extended its engagement at Mandalay Bay Theatre by 14 months through December 30, 2011. Already seen by nearly 800,000 people to date, the production will have played 31 smash months and over 1000 performances at the conclusion of its run.

Veteran comedian Geechy Guy who stars in The Dirty Joke Show with fellow comics Todd Paul and Mickey Joseph at Hooters Casino Hotel, will be taping an appearance on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in New York on November 2.

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada (JCCSN) will hold its two weekend book festival Nov. 7 & Nov. 14. Comedian/actor David Spade returns to the Venetian showroom Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6. Spades show starts at 9 p.m. and features real-life situations that only he can turn into comedy. Ticket prices are $65.75, $85.75 and $105. A limited number of VIP Packages, which include front row seats and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Spade after the show, will be available for $175.75 per person. NPR's popular radio show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! comes to Paris Las Vegas for a live taping on Thursday, Nov. 18. Host Peter Sagal, official judge & scorekeeper Carl Kasell, and a line-up of witty panelists will spin their own illusions and work a little magic to re-invent the news. New York’s most spirited bar and eatery – P.J. Clarke’s will open its first West Coast location this December at The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas.

United Way of Southern Nevada’s Volunteer Center is seeking to recruit 300 volunteers for their “Earn It Keep It Save It” collaborative, which provides free tax preparation to those who earn less than $49,000 in 2010 Through a generous grant from the IRS and matched funding from local partners, United Way supports 30 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites across the Valley. These VITA sites will be staffed with IRS trained and certified volunteers who will prepare tax returns at no cost to qualifying individuals and families Volunteers are needed from Jan. 15-April 15, 2011, to serve as tax preparers, greeters, quality reviewers and site coordinators. Volunteers will receive free tax law and e-file training, IRS certification and the opportunity to participate in convenient training locations throughout southern Nevada.

The episode highlighted the housewives enjoying 9 Group’s sexy venues where they had dinner at Nove Italiano and danced the night away at Rain Nightclub.

Actor Richard Grieco was spotted at Blush Boutique Nightclub for their big industry Halloween bash. The former 21 Jump Street star arrived shortly after 11 pm with his sister and a friend. Grieco joined two the of the stars of Ghost Adventurers, Zak Bagans and Aaron Goodwin to help judge the costume contest. After addressing the crowd on the microphone, the celebrity judging panel choose Phoebe Vecchioni, a Wynn Halloweek guest from Orlando, as the grand prize winner of $2,500 and a bottle of champagne at Blush. Vecchioni was dressed as an Indian Princess and handmade her costume.

Actor and comedian, Pauly Shore, was spotted at Playboy Club inside Palms Casino Resort.

The country rock duo LoCash Cowboys came to Hooters Casino Hotel. They were in Las Vegas for the “THE DAVE AUSTIN MEMORIAL RIDE” at the Nevada Cancer Institute. After the ride, they decide to head over to Hooters Casino Hotel and celebrate that they just hit the Top 50 on the Country Billboard Charts with their hit "Keep in Mind".

Wednesday October 27…

Emmy award-winning actor, author and comedian, Leslie Jordan, dined at N9NE Steakhouse inside Palms Casino Resort with three friends. After dinner, Jordan performed an evening of cabaret to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada at the Palms Lounge.

The stars were out at Surrender Nightclub’s weekly industry party. Comedian Pauly Shore was spotted hanging out in the DJ booth chatting up a bevy of beauties. Famed DJ Tiesto returned for a third visit to the Encore hotspot.

Robert Van Winkle “Vanilla Ice” and his entourage were spotted at Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub on the Las Vegas Strip. Van Winkle and his crew of general contractors stopped in to the ultra-dive bar to enjoy cocktails and watch The Vanilla Ice Project, a new reality show on DIY Network that highlights Van Winkle’s successful career as general contractor and home-improvement expert.

Actor and comedian, Pauly Shore, partied at Moon Nightclub inside Palms Casino Resort with nine friends, then headed to Rain Nightclub to party the night away.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi from MTV's hit series "Jersey Shore" was spotted at confection sensation Sugar Factory at The Mirage. Polizzi indulged in Sugar Factory's signature Couture Pops, and her favorite was the Silver Rainbow style designed by Kim Kardashian.

Jamaican-American singer and rapper Sean Kingston kicked-off Halloween weekend with a brief yet stunning performance at award-winning mega-club PURE at Caesar’s Palace. Immediately following his show, Kingston was accompanied out of the venue and back to his Penthouse Suite at Caesar’s Palace where he enjoyed the rest of his evening with friends and family.

Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween celebration at TAO was hosted by Ryan Kwanten. The True Blood star, who will also be playing Charles Manson in the upcoming biopic, was dressed up for the holiday as gangster.

The Australian actor sat down for dinner at the Asian Bistro with a group of friends before heading upstairs to the packed nightclub.

Vegas' scariest and sexiest costumed party-goers came out to Studio 54 inside MGM Grand last to celebrate Halloween with a spooky performance by famed rapper Vanilla Ice. The “Ice Ice Baby” superstar also was celebrating his birthday during the iconic nightclub’s 13thth Street before his actual birthday on All Hallows’ Eve. Annual Nightmare on 54

The rapper-turned-rocker arrived on the red carpet putting his fists together for the cameras, in which his tattooed fingers read “WIDE OPEN.” He told reporters, “There’s always something to do [in Vegas]. Tonight, that something to do is Studio 54. The ever-gracious rapper then posed for pictures with ecstatic fans.

Inside the club, confetti fell from the sky as the international music icon rapped his most well-known jam “Ice Ice Baby.” He invited female fans clad in sexy Halloween outfits onstage to dance to the infamous rap.

Vanilla Ice then made his way up to his VIP booth where his 30-person deep entourage was waiting to congratulate him on his killer performance and celebrate his birthday. An enormous three-tier birthday cake arrived as friends and fans cheered for the rhyming master. With DJ Loczi on the turntables spinning bumping beats, Vanilla Ice’s popping party continued early into the morning.

Magician, Murray, one of the top 20 semifinalists on this season’s America’s Got Talent, was spotted in the audience at the opening night performance of Alain Nu- The Man Who Knows new show at the Clarion Hotel.

E! Network's reality TV darling Kendra Wilkinson Baskett hosted The Strip's sexiest Halloween party at LAX Nightclub. The blonde bombshell and her best girlfriends were in full Halloween spirit as they showed off their seductive costumes. Dressed as a sexy mobster, Kendra claimed the inspiration behind her ensemble was because she’s now the “boss” of her family.

The female entourage started the evening with dinner at Social House inside Crystals at CityCenter, before heading to LAX Nightclub inside the Luxor.

Along with just a few friends, Heidi and Spencer kicked off the evening with an intimate dinner at Social House located inside Crystals at CityCenter. Following dinner, Spencer changed into an alien costume at Social House before heading to PURE Nightclub to walk the red carpet.

When the pair arrived at PURE, Heidi surprised her fans by coming dressed rather tame for the spooky holiday. Modeling one of her own designs, a tight black lace mini-dress, the former MTV Hills reality starlet said she decided to be “Heidi Montag” for Halloween. Following the red carpet, the couple was escorted directly to their VIP table on PURE’s main stage.

While spending most of the evening interacting with the crowd, the couple’s attention was stolen by a guest dressed as a Spencer look-a-like carrying a female blonde blow-up doll with a t-shirt saying “I Love Spencer.” Later that night, the Spencer look-a-like won third place in the costume contest.

Rhode Island’s famous DJ and cast member of reality sensation, “Jersey Shore” Pauly D hosted the Night of the Killer Costumes at Moon Nightclub inside Palms Casino Resort. Around midnight, Pauly D revealed his Halloween costume, dressed head-to-toe as teen singing sensation, Justin Bieber. The crowd went wild as Pauly D spun on the turntables without his signature hair style, which was product-free for the first time in public. He treated the crowd to a two-hour set and was wearing a New York baseball hat, zip-up sweater and neon green high-top sneakers.

Earlier that evening, Pauly D dined with eight friends in the private dining room of Nove Italiano.

Also at Nove was former MLB player and manager Pete Rose. Accompanied by a friend, they sat in the main dining room where they enjoyed a family-style dinner that included Executive Chef Geno Bernardo’s signature dishes.

Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween celebration in Vegas continued on Saturday night at LAVO. 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord hosted the event to help raise awareness for The Blind Project. The Blind Project is a collective of passionate individuals uniting together, leveraging their unique talents to empower victims and survivors of the commercial sex trade in Southeast Asia. They consist solely of volunteers with no paid staff. AnnaLynne calls it her “passion project” and expressed gratitude to LAVO for donating a VIP table to her to auction off to raise money and awareness for the cause.

The star arrived with her sister Angel and a group of friends clad in Alice in Wonderland costumes. AnnaLynne walked the red carpet as The White Queen, while Angel dressed as Alice. Her agent Melissa Hirschenson came at the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter was John Lewis. Robert Rapport, the head make-up artist from 90210 came with the group to Vegas just to get everyone party ready, with the help of Brianna Thomas from the Kim Vo salon.

LMFAO brought their Party Rock experience as Veuve Clicquot’s Yelloween continued at TAO.

The large group of twenty fueled up for the night with an Asian feast and after dinner added glow sticks to their costumes before heading up to the club.

Rarely without her Holly’s World counterparts, Angel Porrino, Josh Strickland and Laura Croft arrived ready to celebrate the holiday with the blonde beauty. Sticking with the Disney theme, Laura played the part of fellow princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast in a short gold dress and classic white gloves. Angel arrived in character as furry skunk Flower from Bambi, while Josh was dressed as a pirate complete with oversized hat and lots of swagger.

Newly single David Arquette spent his Halloween at Sugar Factory at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Arquette surprised Sugar Factory's VIP guests of the day, the children of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, who were treated to a special trick-or-treat at the confection paradise.

Arquette chatted with guests and took photos while indulging in Sugar Factory's sweets. He was excited once he spotted two characters dressed as Iron Man, who were also at Sugar Factory, and he was overjoyed to pose for photos with them as well.

This was the second annual trick-or-treat event Sugar Factory has hosted for the children of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The kids were in great spirits as they were treated to a magical “kid in a candy store” experience at the Strip’s most in-demand sweet shop.

Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger spent Halloween at Surrender Nightclub at Encore unwinding from a sold out show the previous evening at Mandalay Bay. The front man arrived before midnight with band members of BuckCherry, Hinder and Three Days Grace. The groups took over two VIP bungalows before Kroger and company made their way to the DJ booth to judge the costume contest. Kroeger and Space Invader DJ Joachim Garraud pumped up the crowd while more than 45 costumed guests competed for the $5,000 grand prize. The winning costume was an oversized alien robot.
