On July 23rd Patricia Richards, head mixologist at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas, came in first place at the National USBG Milagro Competition at Tales of the Cocktail, the annual five-day cocktail festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. Richards competed against 14 top bartenders from across the country in the final round of the competition and took first place for her original margarita, Fiesta Fatale. The drink blends Milagro Añejo, Creole Shrubb Liqueur, basil, passion fruit and citrus topped with foamy passion fruit, sriracha and basil espuma.

Comedy-Magician Mac King performed a special benefit show on Saturday, July 24 for the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, which raised $2,600. Over 200 people attended the event at The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus. The money raised will help provide girls with summer adventures at Camp Foxtail.

Cynthia Cameron (VP of Human Resources for Hooters Casino Hotel) and Ann Simmons of Simmons Group have been named Symetra Community Champions for their volunteer work with the I Have a Dream Foundation (IHAD) of Las Vegas. The Symetra Community Champion Award recognizes and celebrates people across the country who are working to make a positive difference in their communities.

In an effort to continue to educate the public on the importance of space, science and technology in our community, the Henderson Space & Science Center kicks off its new speaker series in August 18 with Dr. Henry Sun, Desert Research Institute professor serving as the first guest speaker. He will address the topic - The Search for Life on Mars. The 45-minute lecture will include Dr. Sun’s research in the dry valleys of the South Pole and Death Valley, using micro-organisms found inside rocks from these model regions. His findings will serve as evidence that life exists on planet Mars .Jim Frey, UNLV Professor Emeritus - Sociology and current Henderson Space & Science board member, will host the evening. A questions & answers session will follow Dr. Sun’s presentation which takes place from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Admission to the speaker series is complimentary and open to the public. The Henderson Space & Science Center opened the Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins exhibit inside Galleria at Sunset earlier this year. Visitors are able to travel from one end of our globe to the other to explore the fascinating (and cold!) worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic, through interactive and artifact-based exhibits. The exhibit runs through September 12.

UNLV Department of Art assistant professor Stephen Hendee, who is a Las Vegas Based sculptor that exhibits at a national level in museums and galleries, presents “Ice Next Time,” an exhibition of fictional post-apocalypse textiles, clothing, and artifacts, Aug. 27 – Oct. 23 in the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, located on UNLV's campus (between Lied Library and Wright Hall). A reception, gallery talk, and participatory event opens the exhibition from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 27.

Supermodel Marisa Miller was spotted dining at TAO with friends. Tuesday night Miller was seen dining at Dos Caminos inside The Palazzo. Holly’s World co-star Angel Porrino was named as one of Sin City’s up-and-comers by Blush Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas. The 21-year-old was joined by her co-star Laura Croft to celebrate the “Next Big Thing” honor.

Wednesday night, July 28

Former NFL star and current UFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper enjoyed a night out at Eva Longoria Parker’s Beso steakhouse and Eve nightclub, along with fellow UFL players Ahman Green and Dominic Rhodes. Chris Young celebrated his 21st birthday at TAO Worship Thursday joined by friends including Shwayze, Cisco Adler, DJ Jason Smith, DJ Skinnie and Simon Rex aka Dirt Nasty. The group started with dinner at the Asian bistro, before heading up to a dance floor table in the nightclub. Once upstairs the guys went on stage to present a cake to their friend. Chris Young surprised the packed club with an impromptu performance of Get Romantic while Cisco and Shwayze joined in with their song Buzzin, then hyped up club goers with their crazy antics.

Saturday night, former undisputed World heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis hosted a post fight party at LAVO. Earlier in the night Amy Davidson from ABC’s 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter treated her mother to a birthday dinner at LAVO.

Over at TAO, former ‘N Sync pop star and Dancing with the Stars contestant, Lance Bass dined with friends, including Queer Eye’s Kyan Douglas, before heading up to the nightclub.

Chris Harrison continued his Sin City birthday celebration on Saturday beginning with an afternoon in a second story cabana at the Encore Beach Club, followed by dinner with his wife Gwen and six friends at Society Café Encore.
