Wayne Brady Wax Likeness Unveiled at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas honored Venetian headliner Wayne Brady with a wax figure likeness that was unveiled during a VIP reception on Thursday evening, June 17. With his adorable young daughter Maile by his side, a beaming Wayne said, “I wanted to be close to Sammy Davis Jr. and I got my wish”, referring to where his likeness will stand in the museum.

Following the official unveiling, Wayne rushed off to the Venetian showroom to perform his hit improvisational comedy show Making It Up in front of a packed house.

The show is called Making It Up because that is exactly what goes on at each performance. Wayne is the headliner but he shares the stage with fellow comedian and improvisational partner, Jonathan Mangum. Bouncing off each other and with great chemistry, they pull off an evening of improvisational comedy that has nightly audiences laughing non stop. No two shows are ever the same since their material is always off the cuff and relies on interactions with randomly picked members of the audience that, of course, differs each night.

Improvised material includes words that are thrown out from the crowd and inserted into a comedy sketch or song and choosing several “volunteers” from the audience who are used as props in a sketch. One audience member is also picked to come on stage to create a musical number from information based on their personal life and career. The incredible thing about it all, is nothing seems to phase the duo and no matter what is tossed their way these very funny and talented performers are able to run with it. Even a female member of the audience who dared to make a trip to the ladies' room became a comedy target.

For this reporter, the highlight of the show has got to be the closing routine called Celeb Idol, in which Wayne takes fake song titles made up and written down by audiences members before the show and turns them into very funny parodies of hit songs by top recording artists that showcases his skills as an awesome singer and impressionist. During this particular show, the lineup of song parodies included a take off of Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, rock group Creed, MC Hammer along with his signature sideway dance moves, and Bad Vasectomy inspired by Purple Rain, complete with a dead on impersonation of Prince that was the evening's showstopper.

Making It Up is a fast paced 90 minute show that will leave you wanting more. Audiences are bound to laugh their heads off while being entertained by the amazing, multi-talented Wayne Brady and his comedy cohort. What is so brilliant is that they make it look easy and I am not making that up.

Wayne Brady's Making It Up is performed on select dates including June 18-21, 24-28 and July 1-5.
