The Tropicana Unveils The Mob Experience at Press Conference

At a recent press conference The Tropicana Las Vegas unveiled a new attraction, the Mob Experience that is scheduled to open December 2010 in the 25,000-square-foot Pavilion Center, as part of the $165 million transformation to the property.

Jay Bloom, one of the managing partners of the Las Vegas Mob Experience made the announcement on a stage that was surrounded on each side by decommissioned prison buses which will be driven up and down the Las Vegas strip and supply free transportation to people who attend the exhibit.

On hand were several relatives of some of the most notorious figures of organized crime: Millicent Rosen, daughter of Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, Meyer Lansky II and Cynthia Duncan, grandchildren of Meyer Lansky, Sam Giancana's daughter Antoinette, Tony Spilotro's wife Nancy and son Vincent, and Janice Sachs wife of former Stardust president Allan Sachs. They arrived by stretch limousine, were escorted to the stage, where they smiled and posed for photos, before being driven away.

The family members were a key factor in putting together this exhibit since they provided access to personal stories and more than 1,000 artifacts, photos and videos, including a never before seen in public, 200 page handwritten diary by Meyer Lansky, which was displayed, along with other memorabilia, under a glass case. Through first person accountings, offered by apparitions of famed gangsters themselves, visitors will be able to experience the world of organized crime and learn about the role its major players had on the building of Las Vegas as well as about as their eradication from the city.

The attraction is unlike anything Las Vegas has ever seen before, using the latest in “interactive entertainment technology” to immerse guests in a presentation of the rise and fall of organized crime, the fall being the direct result of the Nevada State Gaming Commission and law enforcement officials.

The men and women who helped create the Las Vegas myths and legends wore many hats, and at the Las Vegas Mob Experience, visitors will have the opportunity to see them all.
