Ricardo's Hosts 'Dine For The Cure' To Support Nevada Cancer Institute


Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant at 4930 W. Flamingo Rd in Las Vegas  hosted a fundraising dinner titled “Dine for the Cure”  for Nevada Cancer Institute on Thursday, July 16 from 6 to 10 p.m., The event featured contemporary Mexican favorites  from Ricardo’s signature menu as well as a dinner buffet,  and a wide assortment of exotic, all-fruit margaritas. To show their support for a worthy cause and help fight cancer thirty percent of all proceeds from the evening went to benefit Nevada Cancer Institute.

Fremont Street Experience Hosts NASA Astronaut Scott J. Kelly in Celebration of 'One Giant Leap; 40th Anniversary of Moon Landing'


Fremont Street Experience hosted a special educational forum with NASA Astronaut Scott J. Kelly for students of the Clark County School District on Monday, July 20 and Tuesday, July 21 at the 1st Street Stage area in downtown Las Vegas.  Kelly conducted three, one-hour sessions each day at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., in which he spoke about his two Space Shuttle missions.  Afterwards he participated in a Q&A.    The forum also included items such as a NASA spacesuit and Apollo 11 replica. The event was also open to the public.

Palms Pool & Bungalows Hosts Kandy Vegas

From July 24 - 26, , The Palms Pool & Bungalows was transformed into one huge "open air" ultra lounge with all kinds of psychedelic décor and visuals for Kandy Vegas – the most outrageous party of the summer.  Saturday night, July 25 women were dressed in their favorite Kandy-style lingerie and men were fashionably dressed in all white attire for the Kandy Vegas Lingerie Ball.


The evening’s Main event featured a unique poolside performance by Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist, Snoop Dogg.  Joining him was Give Records sexiest new recording artist, s.  Celebrities spotted amongst the crowd included: Portland Trail Blazers, Greg Oden; retired NFL athlete Jamie Sharper, St. Louis Rams running back, Steven Jackson, singer and reality star, Ashley Parker Angel; and the cast of reality show, Sunset Tan- Ania Migdal, Devin Haman, Janelle Perry, Jeff Bozz, Jenae Alt, Molly Shea and Nick D’Anna.

Other highlights of the night included entertainment by Manufactured Superstars and Kandy guest DJs, psychedelic décor and mind-blowing theme props right off the set of Willy Wonka – Kandy islands floating in the center of the pool, strolling performers, whimsical dancers, larger-than-life lollipops and fluorescent candy poles.  In keeping with Karma Foundation tradition, a portion of proceeds from the weekend will benefit the organization, Reading for Kids, a grassroots organization dedicated to inspiring underserved children with a love of reading.

As part of Kandy Vegas, the 2nd annual Miss Sunset Tan Swimsuit Pageant was held on Saturday and Sunday at the pool parties. The weekend-long event featured 40 specially selected women from around the country. Winner of the competition was announced Sunday night inside Playboy Club, with Hillary Fisher of Charleston, South Carolina taking the crown.   Over the course of the next year, Miss Sunset Tan will be the face of the world-renowned tanning corporation and also be awarded more than $100,000 in cash and prizes, including a Sunset Tan modeling contract and a Sea Doo boat, courtesy of Inferno Media.  The entire Kandy Weekend Fantasy was filmed for Season 3 of Sunset Tan.

Mirage headliner Terry Fator has announced he is divorcing his wife Melinda after 18 years of marriage. Fator confirmed that he is dating his former on stage assistant, Hawaiian beauty Taylor Makakoa who left the show in March.

Adam Burke, an independent radio producer and reporter, received the Bronze World Medal for his series “Be-Longing Las Vegas” at the 2009 New York Festivals Radio Programming & Promotion Awards.

Burke’s award-winning series, which aired in 2008 on Nevada Public Radio’s News 88.9 KNPR FM, was recognized in the category of profiles/community portraits. “Be-Longing Las Vegas,” underwritten by NV Energy, takes listeners into the lives of people creating their own sense of community and making connections in a region where it’s well documented that people feel isolated and disconnected.


“For more than 50 years, New York Festivals has recognized the world’s best work in advertising and programming, so this honor for Adam Burke ranks among the most prestigious in the industry,” said Florence Rogers, president and general manger of Nevada Public Radio. “We’re extremely proud that Burke’s award-winning series aired on News 88.9 KNPR FM.”


The Orleans Arena announced a three-year contract extension with the West Coast Conference that will keep the WCC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in Las Vegas through the 2011-12 season. The extension comes after the West Coast Conference sold out the Orleans Arena for the 2009 WCC Basketball Championships. The agreement will bring the WCC Basketball Championships to the Orleans Arena on March 5-8, 2010; March 4-7, 2011; and March 2-5, 2012. Tickets for the 2010 championship are expected to go on sale to the general public in November.


Comedic hypnotist Anthony Cools has extended the run of his wildly popular stage show at Paris Las Vegas for four more years. Adding to the fun, Cools has completed the transformation of what was once a hotel lobby into the cutting-edge Anthony Cools Experience showroom.  A new 3-D movie introduction makes Anthony Cools the “must see” show on the Vegas Strip. Show times are five nights per week at 9 pm, dark Mondays and Wednesdays. Tickets start at $57.75 for general admission, plus tax and service charge. Through August 31 Cools is offering locals $20 general admission tickets when discount code “ACLOC” is mentioned upon ordering via phone or in person.

On July 30, The Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub, located on Las Vegas Blvd., in front of Imperial Palace, is hosting the official album release party for the Australian rock trio, Sick Puppies. To celebrate the release of Tri-Polar, Rockhouse is offering free admission before 10 p.m.

The Fab will perform one of the Beatles’ finest albums, Abbey Road, in its entirety at Cannery Casino & Hotel. The special performance will be held at The Club inside the Cannery Casino & Hotel on Friday, July 31 at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman will celebrate his 70th birthday in style on Friday, July 31 with a public birthday street party on Fremont Street Experience. Mayor Goodman’s 70th Birthday Celebration will be a Fremont Street Experience “street party” at the First Street Stage plaza next to Golden Nugget from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, July 31.  There will be special entertainment and appearances from performers throughout Las Vegas and a ceremony on stage with Mayor Goodman will take place from 8:30-9 p.m.  Admission is a $20 donation and will be sold at the entrance gate.  With the $20 charitable donation, street party participants will receive two “Good-Man Martinis” or other gin mixed drinks made with Bombay Sapphire, plus a commemorative T-shirt and button. 100 percent of the money donated will go to the following charities: Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Opportunity Village and Three Square.

On Saturday, August 1, from 3 – 5 p.m. a Fierce Fashion Affair will be held at the Encore Explanade inside Encore Casino Resort The event will feature special appearance by award winning fashion designer/creative director of House of Dorean at Ensemble Tina Knowles (she is also Beyonce’s mom), and Footwear News Designer of the Year at InStep,  Nicholas Kirkwood.


Beginning Saturday, August 1 through Monday, September 7, any guest who presents a valid Nevada identification will be able to redeem a special 2-for-1 locals offer to see MGM’s Crazy Horse Paris, the hottest French sensation on the Las Vegas Strip. Performances are nightly at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., dark Tuesdays.  Guests must be at least 18 years of age to attend the show.

Lisa Williams, internationally acclaimed medium and clairvoyant, will appear at the Las Vegas Hilton August 2 at 7 p.m. in the legendary Hilton Theater. Tickets are priced at $65, $85 and $125


Cowboys for The Salvation Army Charity Event will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at The Las Vegas Country Saloon located at 425 Fremont Street on the Fremont Street Experience, All proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army. It will be a night of country music, dancing, mechanical bull riding and raffles to benefit the Las Vegas Chapter of the Salvation Army. Entertainment will kick the night off at 7 p.m., with The Bobby Kingston Band and the local favorite The Voodoo Cowboys  will close out the night from 10:30 p.m to 1:30 a.m. Admission is free. However, checks for donations can be made payable directly to The Salvation Army and dropped into the familiar Salvation Army Red Kettle. The money raised will be spent on programs to benefit Las Vegas residences in need.  

Legendary musical act KC & The Sunshine Band will perform their greatest hits for Vegas audiences when they return to The Orleans Showroom for a special three-night engagement, August 14-16.  Showtime is 8 p.m. Ticket prices start from $54.95, plus tax.


Former teenage idol of the early 1960’s, singer Bobby Rydell, will perform at the Suncoast Showroom, August 21, 22 and 23. Tickets are $19.95, plus tax. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Shock rocker, Marilyn Manson, is scheduled to play the Joint at the Hard Rock hotel on Friday, August 21 at 9.m. Tickets start at $49.50 (subject to service fees).

The New Jersey pop band, The 1910 Fruitgum Company, who rose to fame in the late ‘60s will play at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. The performance takes place each night at 8 p.m. at Marilyn’s Lounge inside Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 (including tax and fees), available for purchase at the front desk prior to the show.


Two legendary groups from the ‘60s, Tommy James and The Shondells, and Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, will perform Saturday, August 29 at 8 p.m. at The Club inside the Cannery Casino & Hotel. Tickets start at $19.95 plus tax and fees.

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith had dinner with some friends at Little Buddha inside the Palms Casino Resort.


Actor/director Mel Gibson, his son Thomas and two friends attended the 7 p.m. Blue Man Group show at The Venetian.


Quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, Matt Leinart dined at N9NE Steakhouse inside Palms Casino Resort.


Also at N9NE Steakhouse was Utah Jazz player, Deron James who came in with a party of eight.

Singer Kelly Rowland celebrated her #1 hit song, “When Love Takes Over”, and the season finale of her Bravo series “The Fashion Show” at TAO’s Worship Thursday. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top was spotted for the second day in a row at Frankie’s Tiki Room (located at 1712 West Charleston).  Gibbons was joined for drinks by his father-in-law this afternoon (7.24.09).  The duo hung around for a couple hours inside the bar.

DJ AM spotted hanging out backstage at the sold-out Blink 182 show inside The Joint. Professional skateboarder and reality star Rob Dyrdek with a 40 person entourage also checking out the show, after filming scenes for  hit MTV show “Fantasy Factory” earlier in the day inside The Joint. Gavin Maloof was seen watching the concert from a VIP suite.

Deryck Whibley of punk group Sum 41 spotted near the Hard Rock box office and later at a VIP table at Wasted Space. Hill Harper from the hit television drama “CSI” having dinner at Rare 120  and later enjoying a table at Wasted Space.

Steven Tyler,  lead singer of Aerosmith, arrived at Studio 54 in the MGM Grand shortly after midnight  to host his official after-party following the MGM Grand Garden Arena concert by the “Bad Boys from Boston”. He walked the carpet with long-time girlfriend, Erin Brady, and daughter, Mia, plus-size model, designer and former VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club TV star.

Included in his entourage were Matt Sorum, drummer of rock band Velvet Revolver (formerly of Guns N’ Roses); Ace Harper, founding diva of up-and-coming girl rock group, Darling Stilettos; and Mark Hudson, producer and songwriter that co-wrote over a dozen Aerosmith hits.
