Legends In Concert Celebrates All-New 34th Season at Flamingo Las Vegas

Legends in Concert is celebrating its 34th year of performing on the Las Vegas strip.  It is the longest running production in Las Vegas and stars tribute artists performing live as some of the of the world’s most famous and influential icons that died way too soon, such as Janis Joplin, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Backed by a fantastic live band and talented back-up singers and dancers, the soundalike, lookalike artists perform use their own voices (no lip syncing) that bring these true legends back to life.

To celebrate its 34th season, professional dancer/choreographer Lacey Schwimmer has teamed up with Legends in Concert, to unveil a stunning new production number to open the show, featuring the song “Legends Never Die”, a theme that is weaved throughout the production.

“We are ecstatic to present an opening theatrical number for the first time in the show’s 34 year history. Opening the show with a customized ensemble piece is a concept I have wanted to integrate into the show for quite some time,” said Gina Adams, vice president for Legends in Concert. “Lacey’s award-winning talents have dazzled fans on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and we’re thrilled to collaborate with her expertise to bring our vision to life.”

In addition to the new opening number, the Legends production team consisting of Toni Lee, Melden Steele, Bernard Polk and Hilary Caldwell, has produced a fantastic new high-energy finale leaving audiences with feel-good music memories that Legends continues to deliver.

For more than three decades, Legends in Concert has entertained more than 6.6 million Las Vegas visitors and residents, produced over 18,500 performances on the Las Vegas Strip and performed to more than 30 million fans worldwide. Tickets are on sale at all Caesars Entertainment box offices.

One Night for One Drop Draws a Star-Studded Turnout at Fifth Annual Philanthropy Event

Some of the biggest names in entertainment came together on Friday, March 3 inside the Zumanity Theatre at New York-New York Hotel & Casino to support the fifth annual One Night for One Drop imagined by Cirque du Soleil®, raising funds and awareness to benefit critical water issues worldwide. The star-studded event featured performances by multi-platinum selling vocal group The Tenors and Emmy Award-winning actor William Shatner, with additional performances by America’s Got Talent (AGT) winner Grace VanderWaal, GRAMMY®-nominated rapper Redfoo from the Party Rock Crew, AGT finalist Malevo and more.

Presented by MGM Resorts International and Zappos.com, the electrifying, one-night-only performance captivated the sold-out audience with some of the world’s most daring circus acts, elevated by the unique talents of this year’s guest performers.
 
Highlights from the show included The Tenors’ explosive renditions of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Who Wants to Live Forever” by the iconic rock band Queen, an extraordinary performance of “Light the Sky” by Grace VanderWaal and an unforgettable appearance by William Shatner and Redfoo together in the finale. Malevo also brought the heat with their sizzling Malambo choreography, while superstar aerialists Duo Sky Angels thrilled guests with their stunning aerial routine. Following the performance, guests were invited to “party rock” poolside, also enjoying a surprise performance by one of the world’s most beloved boy bands, the Backstreet Boys, who performed iconic hits including “Everybody,” “Larger Than Life” and “I Want It That Way.” Electronic music heavyweights Sultan+ Shepard then took the stage, ending the event with an exhilarating two-hour set featuring back-to-back hits.

Rí Rá Las Vegas Raises More Than $8,000 During Its Annual St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser

Ri Ra La Vegas held its annual St. Baldrick’s shaving event on Saturday, March 5, in an effort to raise funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to treating and finding a cure for childhood cancers. This year, Rí Rá broke its record, raising more than $8,000 for the organization. Twenty-two people went under the buzzer, including women shaving off a full head of hair, men shaving their beards – or just half a beard – and more.

KLUC 98.5 host, Chet Buchanan, joined in on the fight against cancer and served as the event’s host, donating his time and expertise. In addition, cast members from Aussie Heat served as Rí Rá’s celebrity shavers and The Black Donnellys provided entertainment all afternoon long.
 
If guests did not want to lose their hair, they had multiple ways to donate money, including a raffle contest where they could purchase a ticket for just $1 to be entered for a chance to win a variety of prizes, donating to someone else’s head shave and through purchasing food from a special menu.

International Sensation and America’s Got Talent Finalist, TAPE FACE (aka Sam Wills) who launched his limited engagement at Flamingo Las Vegas on February 22,  has embraced the southern Nevada community by leading reading events for Nevada Reading Week. On Monday, February 27, he was at Somerset Academy (Losee and Lone Mountain campuses) where he read to about 1400 students from two books:

1) The Gashlycrumb Tinies: A Very Gorey Alphabet Book, a delightfully dark vintage alphabet book from mid-century illustrator Edward Gorey, the Tim Burton (one of Sam’s influences) of his day.

2) The Book with No Pictures by actor B.J. Novak, widely known for his work as writer and executive producer of The Office, in which he also played Ryan Howard

He also talked to the children about his clown school and juggling training, how it’s OK to be yourself - even if its weird, different (his motto is Stay Weird), his love of books, music, playstation, and the importance of reading and having an imagination, and so much more.

Three  year old Zariyah Walls was diagnosed at 16 months with an autoimmune disorder that leaves her virtually defenseless against infections.  Since then, she has received monthly infusions, leaving her with a strong distaste for the clinic and anything that comes close to touching her port, the site where her treatments are delivered. Cox Charities has granted The Animal Foundation $11,000 to Help “Keep Every Person and Pet Together” (KEPPT) . The KEPPT program recognizes the heartbreak of giving up a pet due to circumstances outside the owner’s control and offers support to those in the Las Vegas Valley who have no other alternative than to surrender their companion. With the aid of Cox Charities’ contribution, the non-profit program is able to provide financial assistance for animal counseling, medical care, food costs and much more to families and their pets.  “At Cox Charities, our mission is to improve the quality of life for Southern Nevada families through grant allocations and community partnerships,” said Tamar Hoapili, Cox Charities program administrator. “Partnering with The Animal Foundation allows us to assist with keeping hundreds of families and their pets together through the good times and bad.”

Fremont Street Experience  transforms into the ultimate college basketball destination for the 8th ANNUAL DOWNTOWN HOOPSTOWN taking place March 9 through April 3. The four blocks underneath the Viva Vision canopy will be lined with college banners and flags, while the downtown destination offers special activities and nightly performances including the stage production show Hardwood Hotties featuring American Idol Season 6 Finalist Haley Scarnato (dark on Thursdays), the world’s largest NCAA bracket and a special basketball-themed show displayed on the 1,500 ft. Viva Vision canopy. Guests will also be able to test their shooting skills at the interactive High Hoops Zone.

NEIL DIAMOND – THE 50th ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE STARRING ROB GARRETT will be performed Friday – Sunday,  March 10 - 12 at the Southpoint Hotel Casino. Showtimes are 7:30 pm each night. Tickets are $25/$30/$35.

NIGHT RANGER AND SPECIAL GUEST SURVIVOR will perform NASCAR Weekend in Las Vegas at the 14th ANNUAL RACEJAM CONCERT at Fremont Street Experience on Saturday, March 11 starting with Survivor at 8 p.m. followed by Night Ranger, both on the 3rd Street Stage. The 14th Annual RaceJam, a four-day event celebrating NASCAR Weekend will feature free nightly entertainment and NASCAR merchandise available for purchase Monday, March 6 – Monday, March 13. The annual downtown concert is held in conjunction with NASCAR Weekend, which features the Boyd Gaming 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, March 11 and the Kobalt 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, March 12, both at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  All concerts are free and open to the public and parking is available at the Fremont Street Experience parking garage located at Carson and 4th Street.

On Monday, March 13, Terry Fator will celebrate his 8th anniversary at The Mirage by introducing a fully revamped production featuring his most beloved characters –Winston the Impersonating Turtle, the world’s greatest Elvis impersonator Maynard Tompkins, Vikki the Cougar, Fernando V. Francisco, Emma Taylor, President Donald Trump and many more. Joining the cast of the award-winning show as the latest “guest” puppet, SIR ELTON JOHN. The new show dubbed TERRY FATOR TONIGHT takes on the personality of a late night talk show in its theme, where we find Fator at the top of his game. Treasure Island will host the MADNESS IN MARCH COLLEGE BASKETBALL VIEWING PARTY in the ballroom, March 16 beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continuing through March 18. There is no charge for admission. The Ballroom features multiple large screen TVs and first come, first serve banquet table seating. Cash bar, concessions and satellite betting stations will be available.

Kick off the mayhem of the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament with the return of  HOOPS CENTRAL, Las Vegas’ most popular and free college hoops viewing party, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino Thursday, March 16 through Sunday, March 19.

Fremont Street Experience invites the public to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in downtown Las Vegas Thursday, March 16 through Sunday, March 19 with multiple Irish rock bands performing on all three stages, strolling costumed entertainers and the Las Vegas Firefighters Benefit Association Annual St. Patrick’s Day March. In honor of March Madness, The Still, the ultimate sports bar/mancave at the Mirage hotel, will be hosting “Brackets and Beer” with doors opening at 8am each game day, while the swanky, upscale lounge, Clique Bar & Lounge at the Cosmopolitan, will be hosting Battle of the Brackets March 16, 17, 18 and 19, with doors opening a 9am.

Want to be in a restaurant to enjoy the college basketball games? Hearthstone will be hosting March Hoops Madness March 16 – April 3, with $8 pitches of beer during the games, while neighboring restaurant, Libre will be hosting a similar March Hoops Madness with $8 pitches of beer. The Plaza Hotel & Casino celebrates St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 with 3 minute LIVE GREEN FIREWORKS SHOW at 10 p.m., DOME PARTY starting at 7 p.m. The Plaza invites the public to join in the fun taking place throughout the evening under the Plaza’s dome, where guests will enjoy free entertainment, including music by DJ Jacob Savage and live performances by local bands Glass Pools at 8 p.m. followed by Indigo Kidd. Starting in March, mystery comics will begin a monthly invasion of The Space (3460 Cavaretta Court) at “LOUIE ANDERSON PRESENTS: THE AFER SHOW.” The beloved comedian will bring together some of Vegas’ premier comics for a no-holes-barred late night of fun, fame and laughs to The Space’s intimate back room.  Structured like a New York City intimate comedy cabaret, “The After Show” will be the place to see up and coming comedians, established comics workshopping new material and perhaps catch a glimpse of Strip headliners wanting to continue the laughs. In the spirit of Mondays Dark, Anderson created “The After Show” as a vehicle to give back to the local, Las Vegas community, while giving a comedians a place to congregate for impromptu laughs after their nightly gigs.  Much like a comedy version of MTV’s “Unplugged,” each performance will showcase a variety of talent that is never advertised – guests won’t know until they take their seats in the audience. “The After Show” premieres on Saturday March 18. Seating is extremely limited to 150 guests and tickets for the March 18 performance are $20 per person general admission and on sale now.

OPERA LAS VEGAS PRESENTS an operatic version of the world famous story of “PINOCCHIO” Saturday March 18 at 2pm and 7pm at the Starbright Theatre, 2215 Thomas W. Ryan Blvd,  Sunday, March 19 at 2pm West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd, and Sunday, March 26 at 3pm at the Windwill Library Auditorium 7060 W. Windmill Lane.  Admission is FREE on a first come basis.

Retired racing driver and NASCAR team co-owner, Tony Stewart was spotted attending the hit show Absinthe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In town for the Kobalt 400 Monster Energy Cup Series race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and his girlfriend, model and actress Pennelope Jimenez, were seen taking in ABSINTHE’s outlandish acts and hilarious antics during the 10 p.m. performance. Following the show, the couple went backstage for a photo with The Gazillionaire, his raucous assistant Wanda Widdles and the “Green Fairy,” Melody Sweets.

America’s Got Talent winner, 13-year-old singer-songwriter Grace VanderWaal was spotted with her family at The Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage Hotel & Casino. Inspired by the many “Kids of Liverpool” featured in the show, the young star enjoyed an exclusive meet-and-greet backstage, taking photos with some of her favorite cast members.

“Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star Malika Haqq celebrated her 34th birthday with a glamorous bash at 1 OAK Nightclub inside The Mirage Hotel & Casino. To kick the night off, the reality star arrived at STACK Restaurant & Bar around 10:30 p.m. for dinner before heading to the Las Vegas hot spot.  The birthday girl was accompanied by “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” star, Dorothy Wang, sister Khadijah Haqq and a handful of other friends‎. Once inside the club, they were settled at a VIP table located behind the DJ Booth where DJ Ikon was spinning smash hits.

Following the debut of their much-anticipated Las Vegas residency, “Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life” at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Backstreet Boys hosted an epic after party at Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas last night. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson arrived at Chateau shortly after midnight, immediately following the group’s first show.

Players from the world-famous English Rugby Team were spotted at the 7 p.m. show of Mystere by Crque du Soleil while in town for the Las Vegas Sevens Rugby Tournament. The group enjoyed some pre-show fun with the production’s mischievous clown, “Brian Le Petit,” who doused the team with buckets of popcorn before joining his fellow cast members onstage.
