Raiding the Rock Vault Honored with Memorabilia Case at Hard Rock Cafe

On Tuesday afternoon, April 8, the cast of Raiding the Rock Vault were honored at the Hard Rock Cafe with a special memorabilia case dedication featuring many items from their rock ‘n’ roll histories with bands including Heart, Asia, Whitesnake and Quiet Riot.

Fans showed up at the Hard Rock Cafe’s strip location to watch their favorite rock icons pose in front of the case and talk about the stories behind several of the items which included the jacket leather jacket worn by Paul Shortino during “This is Spinal Tap”, guitars from Doug Aldrich of Whitesnake and Andrew Freeman of The Offspring, the black suit worn by Robin McAuley worn during MSG’s music video “This is my Heart” and more.

Pole Position Raceway Holds Family Fundraising Event on World Autism Day

In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, Pole Position Raceway in partnership with Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Jam and Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT), held a family fundraising event for local autism awareness Wednesday, April 2 at the high-performance indoor kart track at Pole Position Raceway.
 
The organizations teamed up to join in on the effort and support families of children with autism. Throughout the month of April, children will be able to arrange a special time to visit Pole Position Raceway with their families and race during off-peak hours to ensure safety on the track. A discounted race price of $20 will be offered, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting FEAT. In addition, throughout the month of April, Chapman Automotive will donate $250 toward the purchase of a new car to customers who mention the word “autism.”

Xposed!, Vegas' First LGBTQ Beach Party, Celebrated Grand Opening at The New Tropicana Las Vegas

The first-ever Saturday LGBTQ beach party, Xposed! celebrated its Grand Opening on Saturday afternoon March 29 in the all-new Tropicana Beach Club at The New Tropicana Las Vegas.  The grand opening festivities featured sun-kissed go-go dancers, live entertainment and DJ Ryan Kenney and DJ Kidd Madonny spinning all the latest hits. Guests indulged in signature libations and played beach volleyball on the white sand volleyball courts, while surrounded by the breathtaking waterfalls, palm trees, and luxury daybeds and cabanas.
Local celebrities that attended and walked the spectacular 3D beach ball step and repeat red carpet included Josh Strickland of “Vegas! the Show”; Jaymes Vaughn, Ryan Stuart and Jon Howes from “Chippendales”; Derrick Barry as Britney Spears, from “Divas Las Vegas”; the world-famous dance crew JABBAWOCKEEZ; Skye Diva, “Tropicana Nights” headliner; cast members from “ROCK OF AGES”; and more.
 
The event was produced in association with LA-based event producer Paul Nicholls, who runs a multitude of successful weekly events including the popular Stripper Circus franchise with weekly parties in LA, Vegas and San Diego, and is also a partner in the biggest gay dance festival of the summer, Matinee Las Vegas Festival.

SPRINKLES CUPCAKES, located at The LINQ, officially opened its doors to the public on Friday, March 21 at 10 a.m.  Longtime Sprinkles fan HOLLY MADISON stopped by to be the first person to withdraw a cupcake out of the 24-hour Cupcake ATM. Holly chose her favorite flavor, vanilla, before tasting chocolate ice cream in a red velvet waffle cone which matched her new red locks. She also took mini cupcakes home to daughter, Rainbow, and doggy cupcakes for her pooches.

SUNRISE HOSPITAL AND SUNRISE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL has been voted “BEST HOSPITAL IN LAS VEGAS” by the Las Vegas Review Journal’s  annual “Best of Las Vegas” Readers’ Poll. The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV presents Alan Ball’s “FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS” in the Black Box Theatre Apr. 4-13. Rayme Cornell directs.  During an ostentatious wedding reception at a Knoxville, Tennessee estate, five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with a reason to avoid the proceedings below. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent, and touching celebration of the women’s spirit.

This weekend, The LAS VEGAS SHAKESPEARE COMPANY presents the three final performances of Roald Dahl’s family friendly musical, WILLY WONKA at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy. Performances are Friday, April 11 & Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 13 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Fremont Street Experience will host CELTIC FEST to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Las Vegas Highland Games taking place at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs in northwest Las Vegas on April 12-13. To kick-off the celebration, Fremont Street Experience invites Las Vegas locals and visitors to celebrate with free Celtic entertainment on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.  Each night at 8:15 p.m., The LA Scots pipe band will start the festivities by parading from Golden Nugget to the 1st Street Stage where they will perform. Los Angeles Scottish Pipe Band, popularly known as The LA Scots, is the premier pipe band of the United States and a world class competitor.  Throughout the night Live bands and entertainers headlined by 1916, Wicked Tinkers, Sharon Lynn’s Celtic Crown Dancers and Celtic Music from Golden Bough, will keep the party going.

THE BUSBOYS AND SPECIAL GUEST OTIS DAY will be bringing their unique, high energy rock, roll and soul to the Rampart Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, Saturday night, April 12th, 8:00 PM and Sunday afternoon, April 13th, 4:00 PM.Guests can purchase tickets at the Casino Cage.The next stop is the Riverside Resort and Casino in Laughlin, NV, May 8th – May 12th with show times 8:00 PM every night. On Tax Day, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, HARD ROCK CAFE LAS VEGAS opens up its stage to give fans a chance to “SING FOR YOUR SUPPER”.  Beginning at 5 p.m. Rock ‘n’ roll legend PAUL SHORTINO from Quiet Riot and Rough Cutt will be joined by some of his fellow Raiding the Rock Vault artists to kick off the evening at Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas on the Strip by performing one of his hit songs and encouraging guests to brave the stage and unleash their inner rock star. Guests will have the opportunity to select their favorite song, which includes some of the classic hits Shortino performs nightly during Raiding the Rock Vault at LVH – Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, and then take the stage to perform in front of the entire restaurant. Guests who sing a complete song will receive a free dinner entrée from Hard Rock’s new menu. Singers can choose from a selection of new menu items, including the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich, Arugula Salad with Shaved Marinated Chicken or Fiesta Burger (or Veggie Burger).

THE SPIRIT OF 45”,  a nationwide initiative honoring the achievements of America’s Greatest Generation, is holding a special event at the Henderson Pavilion on Wednesday, April 16 from noon-4 p.m. with live entertainment, vendor booths, awards, etc.The FREE show at 2 p.m. will be hosted by Mark OToole and feature Lou Gazzara, Dangerous Curves, Corrie Sachs, Denise Clemente, Gary Anthony and Genevieve. The event’s grand marshal is World War II veteran Marty Allen.

PLANT WORLD NURSERY, in partnership with the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program, will honor 2014’s Earth Day with the PICTURE PARADISE ART CONTEST. The contest is open to all students in elementary grades K-5. Students are encouraged to express in a drawing what they envision paradise on Earth would look like. The school with the most entries will receive a $500 donation from Plant World Nursery to furnish its school garden. Three winning students will be selected to receive cash prizes: first place with $200, second place with $150 and third place with $100.Submissions must be received by Tuesday, April 30. All entries must be submitted to the School-Community Partnership Program located at #145 Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Road.

As part of Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend at The Orleans and with a commitment to support the armed forces and veterans, SAILOR JERRY SPICED RUM will be raising money for HONORABLE RECHARGE on Saturday, April 19 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Viva Las Vegas attendees will be able to step up to a dunk tank and test their aim attempting to dunk Sailor Jerry Pin-up models.  Balls will be three (3) for $5 and all monies raised will benefit Honorable Recharge, an organization aimed to assist combat veterans who suffer from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other military wounds through education and support.  Attendees may also make donations at their leisure via cash and credit card at the Sailor Jerry airstream located adjacent to the Honorable Recharge Dunk Tank.  In addition to raising money for Honorable Recharge, attendees will be able to marvel at the collection of custom cars which include the Sailor Jerry Rat Rod and Roadster, purchase the brand new Spring 2014 line of Sailor Jerry apparel as well as sample the spiced rum out of a converted 1950s Sinclair gas pump. The April edition of “MONDAYS DARK WITH MARK SHUNOCK” will take place on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 8:30 pm at Body English Nightclub inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. KEEP MEMORY ALIVE, the fundraising arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and Bill Edwards Presents will host an all-star tribute Saturday, April 26 in honor of GLORIA AND EMILIO ESTEFAN at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.This dazzling star-studded gala will bring together the world’s celebrities of music and film to honor the Estefans’ advocacy for spinal cord injuries and research and the Cleveland Clinic’s commitment to care and research for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, frontotemporal dementia, multiple system atrophy and MS. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Motley Brews and Joseph James Brewing Company have partnered for the brewing of SWEET ’N FUNKY DESERT JUNKIE, made exclusively for the 2014 GREAT VEGAS FESTIVAL OF BEER scheduled in Downtown’s Fremont East Entertainment District on Saturday, April 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. The festival’s official beer will be a refreshing Honey Blonde Ale, brewed with local desert honey, two-row malt and Saaz hops for a subtle, earthy flavor, sweet punch, and a dry, crisp body at a refreshing 5 percent alcohol content.

In celebration of National Prime Rib Day, Jerry's Nugget Casino Sunday, April 27, will  launch its PRIME RIB EATING CONTEST AT JERRY'S FAMOUS COFFEE SHOP, available for willing participants weekly Sunday – Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Prime Rib Eating Challenge includes the full consumption of the Double Cut Prime Rib meal, which consists of: Dinner salad with croutons and choice of dressing, Main entrée: a 48-ounce prime rib – the thickest cut served, Sides: a baked potato and ear of corn, Bread: one piece of garlic toast, Dessert: Jerry's Famous Banana Split. Participants are required to finish the meal in 45 minutes or less. Winners of the Prime Rib Challenge will receive an “I am King of Cow at the Jerry’s Nugget Prime Rib Challenge” t-shirt and commemorative crown, their Double Cut Prime Rib meal free of charge (does not include gratuity) and photo taken for the Prime Rib Hall of Fame. Faith Lutheran Theatre Company will present SHREK THE MUSICAL on its state-of-the-art stage for six special performances, May 2-11. Tickets to the show, based on the 2001 blockbuster DreamWorks film, “Shrek,” and William Steig's 1990 story, Shrek!, are now on sale starting at $10. The limited-engagement will kick off Friday, May 2 with a special “Green Carpet” Opening Night, which includes a post-show reception. Performances of SHREK THE MUSICAL can be seen at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, along with 4 p.m. matinee performances on Sundays, from May 2-11. Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) will host a SPECIAL SCREENING of the Academy Award- winning biopic "MILK" at Inspire Theatre on Friday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. Notable HIV activist and founder of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, CLEVE JONES will host a live Q&A session following the movie. Guests will enjoy complimentary popcorn from Popcorn Girl. The event is open to the public for a $10 donation to AFAN. The local Strip headliner was celebrating his second year anniversary of “Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club” at MGM Grand with his girlfriend, Isabella Quella, and his brother, Paul.
 
Also seen at CRUSH was former chairman and CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch. The outspoken businessman and his wife, Suzy, dined at the hotspot after watching the Michael Jackson ONE show by Cirque du Soleil at Mandalay Bay.
