This year's event helped NCMEC raise over $427,000, making it one of the most successful fundraising efforts throughout Canon’s 16 years of sponsorship.
Since 1997, Canon U.S.A. and NCMEC have collaborated to educate the public about the growing issue of child abduction. The Canon4Kids program, a partnership between Canon U.S.A. and NCMEC, donates product to help law enforcement disseminate photos and information about missing children, produces PSAs with missing children photos, and educates parents about maintaining updated photos of their children. Proving that these efforts have clearly had a positive impact, more than 180,000 children have been rescued over the years.
To learn more about NCMEC, or to report information about a missing child, call its toll-free, 24-hour hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or visit its web site at www.missingkids.com.
McCall's Heartland Grill at The Stratosphere Serves Up An Exceptional Dining Experience
McCall's Heartland Grill is the name of the new restaurant, featuring a unique mix of Midwestern steaks and coastal seafood, to open inside The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino.
I recently had the opportunity to dine there with my husband and a few friends and I can honestly say it was one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. From the warm and comfortable atmosphere to the exceptional service and ultimately the food, everything was first rate and couldn't be beat.
We sampled several of the items on the menu which was inspired and crafted by renowned Chef Rick Giffen. Each dish is made of wholesome and natural ingredients, beautifully presented, and best of all, an absolute delight to your tastebuds. To begin with, every dining table is presented with an amazing bread basket filled with four different types of fantastic breads: cherry walnut artisan bread, buttermilk biscuits, spicy parmesan lavosh, and parmesan cheese sticks, that could easily fill you up if you don't know when to stop, because they are sooo good and hard to resist.
The menu has a large selection appetizers or “starters”, salads, soups and additions and so we took a gamble to start our meal with spanish artichoke dip served with grilled flat bread ($8), Applewood bacon jalapeno wrapped prawns with guava barbeque sauce and roasted lemon ($12), and crackling calamari with chili tarter sweet cilantro pesto ($10), that are all winners.
For an entree, three us ordered potato crusted Scottish salmon prepared with citrus chive butter ($23) which was cooked to perfection, tender and delicious, while the fourth in our party decided on petite lobster tails with grilled risotto cake, that she said was succulent. Priced at $29, it is the most expensive dish “From the Pond” section of the menu. Of course, for those who prefer to eat meat, there is a variety of entree options “From the Pasture” to your liking including steaks and ribs, chicken, pork loins, and the the most expensive dish, pepper crusted fillet of steak priced at $31. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong.

As a side dish, we chose to share a very savory mushroom cassolette with horseradish butter, listed among all the tempting “additions”, which are priced at $5 a plate.
To complete the meal, it is was virtually impossible to pass up the tantalizing desserts prepared fresh in the house. So we took the plunge, digging our forks and/or spoons into not one but four generous mouthwatering offerings that included pineapple macadamia upside down cake with vanilla ice cream, mango sorbet with berries ($6 each), bananas foster bread pudding, caramel swirl cheese cake ($7 each) that were, simply put, to die for.

I have only rave things to say about McCall's Heartland Grill. Praise goes to the excellent staff including the immensely accommodating General Manager Andrea Lucente, Assistant Manager Santino Perrelli, and our wonderful server, Joey, for acing it. When it comes to customer service they rate an A+. From the moment you enter the restaurant to walking out the door, you are treated like royalty, with the attentive, professional staff making sure you have a unique and unforgettable experience.
So, for locals and out of towners looking for an incredibly satisfying, and yes, affordable, place to dine, I highly recommend McCall's Heartland Grill for not only fulfilling, but going beyond, expectations.
McCall's Heartland Grill is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the dinner menu available all day long. For reservations call 702-380-7790.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage is now offering “PAINTING WITH THE DOLPHINS,” a hands-on experience where guests can collaborate with dolphins in producing unique masterpieces of art.Participants of this once-in-a-lifetime experience begin with a brief orientation and overview of the habitat where they observe these beautiful marine mammals up close and personal while learning about dolphin health and behaviors. Following a brief overview of the painting process, guests choose the background colors for their canvas, or have the option of leaving it white for higher contrast.
