AVN Fans Have Until January 12 to Cast Votes

As merchants and attendees get ready to pour into Las Vegas for the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo from January 18 – 21, the folks at home still have a chance to participate.  The 2012 AVN Awards show to be held Saturday January 21 at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will include results of fan-based voting. The voting site is live now at and will remain open until January 12.

For nearly 30 years, the AVN Awards Show has been the adult industry’s biggest event.  With a stylish red carpet pre-show and a lavish star-studded (excuse the pun) ceremony, AVN celebrates outstanding (excuse the expression) achievements in “the business of pleasure.”  Awards will be given out  in categories including Best Video, Best New Starlet, and Best Selling DVD of the Year.  There are many other (more than 100) categories which can not be detailed here but are relevant to this unique industry.

The format is similar to the motion picture industry’s Academy Awards presentation, but it is much sexier.  I can tell you from personal experience that it is a heck of a lot of fun.  Awards are always important as a measure of success in any industry, but these folks know how to poke (excuse the expression) fun at themselves at the same time that they recognize their peers in the profession.

The show is being promoted as being  “Sexier than Hell.” This is partially due to the fact that this year’s production will be hosted by comedian Dave Attell, Bree Olsen and Sunny Leone.

Dave Attell

Bree Olson

Sunny Leone

Bree is an X rated petite blonde and former “Goddess” of actor Charlie Sheen.  Sunny has been in the business since 2003 and has often been called the most beautiful woman in porn.  They will certainly add  a measure of sexuality to the humor which always accompanies the awards. In past years, the show has included appearances by celebrities including Lisa Lampanelli, Dave Attell, Gene Simmons, Jim Norton, Bobby Slayton, and Chris Angel.

Awards will be presented in over 130 categories ranging from best 3-D movie to best marketing campaign.  Of course many of the awards will be given out before the festivities start.  There are some pretty interesting categories, but because this site can be read by those under 18, we will refrain from naming them.

So check out the website prior to January 12 to vote for your favorite star.  Three lucky voters will be randomly picked and awarded two free tickets to the show.  Just visit and type in fan voting for details. The show begins at 9 PM at The Joint at The Hard Rock and is preceded by a Red Carpet from 6 to 8 PM featuring the industry stars.

Tickets are priced at $300 and include admission to a string of after-parties.  You can order tickets at the web site or through ticket master. Information abut reserved seating can be obtained by emailing Bonnie LeBlanc at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Catch Funny Lady Kathleen Dunbar at Sin City Comedy in the "V" Theatre This Week

Comedienne Kathleen Dunbar wowed the house on January 4 at big Al’s Comedy Club at the Orleans.  Next week she’ll be doing the same at the Sin City Comedy Club at the V Theater. Kathleen shares the stage at Big Al’s with Matt Markman and Heath Harmison.

The Wisconsin native, now a Vegas resident, talked about everything from her alcoholic mother’s sex talk ( It’s messy, Take a towel) to her experience bringing a younger man into her bedroom for pleasurable purposes.  This quick-witted comedienne connected with everyone from young parents to menopausal women. What can you say when she talks about plucking her eyebrow hairs-- from her chin!

The sign on the door at Big Al’s clearly indicated that adult humor would be presented so folks were forewarned.  It was adult and hilarious. Dunbar used her personal life- as a teenager, a divorce  and a mother- to take the near capacity crowd on a humorous journey through many stages of her life.

Born in Milwaukee, this comic brings her Midwest background into the act. Most of us can relate to that trip back home to the family reunion.  In Kathleen’s case, this means cheese and beer and her “crazy a**” family.  Her story about her mother’s sex talk obviously resonated with all the women.

This attractive redhead has her own stories about slot machines.  She can’t tolerate the folks who win and don’t get excited. “If I won, I’d do the happy dance,” she tells us demonstrating just how it would go.

Kathleen interacts with the audience, chatting with everyone from parents of young children to senior citizens.  Ya gotta love a woman who calls teens “little demon pig people.”

On the subject of bikini wax, she told us that young people have a V, “I have a W!”  Her shopping trip to Victoria’s Secret – you’ve got to go hear it for yourself.

Kathleen was the Comedy Winner in the “2003 Las Vegas Star Search” competition. In 2005, the Entertainment Consumer’s Exchange awarded the “Excellence in Entertainment Sunrise Award”. They recognized her talent again in 2006 and 2007 with the “Favorite Comedian” award.

I’m not surprised.  I love Kathleen Dunbar’s sense of humor and connection with the audience. Beginning on Monday and running through January 15, you can catch her at the Sin City Comedy Show at the V Theater. For ticket information at the V theater, check out or call the box office 702 260 7200.
