Travis Cloer, one of the stars of Jersey Boys, teamed up with Chris Phillips of Zowie Bowie fame on stage in the Ovation Room at Green Valley Ranch for this rendition of Luck Be A Lady. Zowie Bowie will be doing their Vintage Vegas show there on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Ben & Jerry’s 33rd Annual “Free Cone Day” Serves More than 10,000 Scoops
Event Raised More Than $2,000 for Charity

What could be better than this. I stopped by Ben & Jerry’s in the district at Green Valley Ranch on April 12 and there waiting to serve me ice cream were comic magician Mac King, Pianist extraordinaire Ryan Ahern, and Zowie Bowie’s hot sexy singer Chris Phillips. Pretty good choices!

And before long, there was eye candy for the guys as well in the appearance of Angel Porrino of Holly’s World fame. This young lady who filled in for Holly Madison in PeepShow will soon be a cast member of the latest Vegas hit show, Absinthe. The guys were delighted with Angel’s cones!

The occasion was Ben & Jerry’s 33rd Annual “Free Cone Day,” which was also held at Sunset Station. The event was an overwhelming success, with more than10,000 cones given away. Every year, the Henderson locations enlist the help of local celebrities to help scoop ice cream. The ice cream is free, but there’s a bucket for the donations which go to local charities. This year, the Nevada Community Learning Centers (formerly Classroom on Wheels) and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children raised more than $2,000 combined over the course of the day’s event.

The District at Green Valley Ranch location welcomed the help of Josh Strickland (PEEPSHOW and E!’s “Holly’s World” co-star), Chippendales’ Jace Crispin and Kenny King; Lady G from Hot 97.5 KVEG-FM’s Morning Show, Lorena and Tracey from Luxor's FANTASY, Jersey Boys Peter Saide and Jeff Leibow, Cheaza (PEEPSHOW’s “Peep Diva”); Jelani Remy (“Simba” in Disney’s THE LION KING); “Defending the Caveman” star Kevin Burke; Thunder from Down Under cast members Ryan and Marcus, Zowie Bowie’s Chris Phillips; Ryan Ahern (star of Piano! Las Vegas); Mac King (The Mac King Comedy Magic Show); and Angel Porrino (co-star of E!’s “Holly’s World” and the newest cast member of Absinthe). The location also hosted Games2U, a vehicle featuring interactive games and activities.

Absinthe’s Gazillionaire, Ivana Chekov-Jones and Melody Sweets, pictured above, were scoopers at Sunset Station Hotel & Casino Scoop shop. Sunset also welcomed help from Craig, Al & Andy of KOMP-FM’s “Rock ‘n Roll Morning Show,”, and Sunset Station’s own acoustic rocker Shawn Eiferman.

The lines grew longer as the day progressed, but the mood was upbeat with fans delighted to meet the celebrities and help in the charitable efforts. A win-win all the way around.

FYI: The Nevada Community Learning Centers’ (formerly Classroom on Wheels) mission is to provide preschool children and their families with quality educational services to empower them to succeed in life. In recent years, the program has grown tremendously. As a result, the parent organization name has been changed to Nevada Community Learning Centers and the preschool program renamed Three Key Years Preschool Program, while remaining dedicated to providing educational services to economically disadvantaged preschool children and their families.
