Great Entertainment is Abundant in the Las Vegas Area
I love Las Vegas. The talent here is amazing. As 2013 begins, I look forward to some new theatrical adventures. But what about some of the outstanding productions that are available right now?
Tara Palsha, lead dancer in Vegas! The Show with Tiger Martina, VTS choreographer and director
I have so many “favorites” that it's hard to narrow down the list. VEGAS! The Show (Saxe Theater in the Miracle Mile) combines top performers, creative choreography, delightful costumes, and outstanding musicians in a theater small enough to make you feel close to the action.
Jersey Boys (Paris), the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, is a Broadway caliber production. Human Nature with its great Motown music song by four talented guys from Australia will be opening at the Venetian after a successful run at Imperial Palace and deservedly so.
Penny, Dianne Davis, and the Gazillionaire from Absinthe
Absinthe is a combination of some amazing acrobatics and balancing and raunchy sexy naughty humor. I love it, but it isn't for prudes.
Sean Cooper, Robin Leach, and Lorena Peril
Speaking of sexy, Fantasy (Luxor) is a topless show with class, great costuming and choreography. Lorena Peril is a phenomenal songstress, Sean Cooper's comedy and shenanigans are delightful, and the ladies are lovely.
Josh Strickland and Coco
Peep Show (Planet Hollywood) with Coco is a topless show with a loose plot and lovely ladies as well as the huge shining talent of Josh Stickland. Crazy Girls (Riviera) and X Girls (Flamingo) are topless and fun.
Jubilee (Bally's) is a celebration of old Vegas with elaborate costumes, impressive sets, and tall leggy showgirls. This is the last of the Vegas style mega productions. If you loved old Vegas, it's a must see.
"Lefty", Chloe Crawford, and Murray the magician
When it comes to magic, Murray the magician (Tropicana), the likable guy with the spiked blond hair, puts on a kid friendly show that adults will totally enjoy. His assistant Chloe (his wife) is eye candy for the fellows and his other helper “Lefty” is adorable. You can see more of Chloe in Fantasy (Luxor). Nathan Burton (V Theater) and Mac King (Harrah's) have kid friendly magic that adults will enjoy.
There's a reason why Terry Fator (Mirage) won American's Got Talent – talent. The kids will love him and the adults will enjoy and appreciate Terry on a whole different level. Like Murray, Terry enjoys the company of his wife (Taylor) as his onstage assistant.
Jeff Leibow of Jersey Boys, Gordie Brown, and comedy hypnotist Marc Savard (V Theater)
Gordie Brown Impressionist and singer extraordinaire (Golden Nugget) is as good as it gets.
Rich Little (LVH) is perfect entertainment for the senior set as he takes us back to characters we knew and loved in black and white and beyond.
The Phat Pack (Plaza) is perfect for Broadway Lovers with performers who have had lead roles in Les Miserables, Phantom, and Forever Plaid.
Frankie Moreno (Stratosphere) is the next LV super star. Looks, charm, and talent all in one guy.
The Cirque shows will always be with us with their spectacular staging and quality performers. Broadway Celebration and Dancing Queen (New York New York) blend familiar tunes with energetic performers.
South Point offers a variety of acts that change weekly. They range from some oldies but goodies like Debbie Reynolds and Frankie Avalon to the over the line great humor of Ralphie May and his wife and sometime opening act Lahna Turner.
And one of the best bargains in town is Wes Winters who performs in the Grandview Lounge at South Point on Friday and Saturday evenings. No cover, no minimum! He also performs at the Rampart on Tuesdays.
Skye Dee Miles and Wes Winters
The immensely talented Skye Dee Miles is in the lounge at the Tropicana on Fridays through Sundays beginning at 9:30 p.m. I love stopping by on Sun day evenings when her many friends in the industry sdrop in to perform on her stage.
This list is by no mean's complete, just a sample. Pick one of these – or many- and go out and enjoy a show.
Youngblood Hawke Rocks The Sony Store at Forum Shops
Youngblood Hawke rocked the Sony Shop at the Forum Shops on December 19.
Fans were lined up outside the store to be among the first 25 to enter at the appointed time and receive some pretty cool T shirts designed for the event by Steven Harrington. Fukuburger supplied burgers and fries and there were free drinks as well.
DJ Jon Que of 107.5 FM was on hand to supply music prior to the group's arrival. Fans loved the close up concert and friendly performers. Special discounts were in place as fans not only rocked to the music but scored on some good buys. It's Vegas!
