Through the years, Deniece Williams has always had her hand in the show business arena, continuing to tour with her singing act and to write songs. But, for her, it was her unseen by the public juggling act that has impacted her the most, -- the one that had her balancing career and motherhood without ever dropping the ball.

With her four sons grown, now like the title of her first solo self-penned hit, Williams is “free” to find a new career path. Having moved to Las Vegas about a year ago, she is very excited about appearing in Clint Holmes’ show this coming weekend, September 7-9, in The Smith Center for the Performing Arts’ Cabaret /Jazz room. Williams will be singing “Free” and another one of her hits “Let’s Hear It For the Boy” and will duet with Holmes on the number one song she recorded with Johnny Mathis, “Too Much Too Little Too Late.”

“While I’ve never stopped touring or recording,” I slowed down a lot to be home with my children – I didn’t want someone else raising them,” Williams says. “But I get royalties ever year from my songwriting and publishing. ‘Free’ has been recorded by 100 artists. SEAL was the latest one to cover it with David Foster producing it. All in all, five songs I’ve written have been covered by various artists over the past 38 years and are still being played on radio. It’s tremendously awesome to me, especially considering that I never intended to be in the music industry. I was going to be  nurse.”

Fate, however, had different ideas for the talented Williams.
