8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 Brian Wilson
Known for his use of unique vocal sounds, trademark style of lyrics and
incessant studio perfectionism, Brian Wilson brings ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’ to
Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino. Formally the lead singer of the Beach
Boys, the musician continues to be an inspiration in the industry
entertaining audiences throughout the U.S.
8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 Al Green
An incomparable gospel and soul singer, “The Reverend Al Green” started
performing at age 10 in a Forrest City quartet called the Greene
Brothers before forming the group Al Greene & the Creations in high
school and released one R&B hit, “Back Up Train.” Green later dropped
the final "e" in his last name years later to become a solo artist. The
singer has received many accolades including “the greatest soul singer
to come to prominence in the 1970s” from Rolling Stone magazine. Green
continues to amuse fans with chart-topping hits “I’m Still In Love With
You” and “Let’s Stay Together.”
6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 “Diamonds in the Desert” Boxing Event
Top lightweight contender Kid Diamond of Las Vegas goes into a tough
main event, taking on rugged Javier Jauregui of Mexico on a Top Rank
boxing card, which will also feature USA Olympian Vanes 'Nightmare'
Martirosyan of Glendale, Cal. With a total of seven bouts, the fight
card features a number of Las Vegas fighters including Anthony Lenk and
Diego Magdaleno.
8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 Foreigner
Formed in 1976 in New York City, the rock band Foreigner has sold more
than 50 million albums worldwide. Rocker Mick Jones leads the six-person
group recording such hits as "Urgent," "Waiting for a Girl Like You,"
and "I Want to Know What Love Is." The band’s latest album, a greatest
hits anthology was released on July 15, 2008, titled No End in Sight:
The Very Best of Foreigner.
8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 Beach Boys
The Beach Boys is a rock-n-roll band with unforgettable favorites such
as “Surfin USA,” “Little Deuce Coupe” and “I Get Around.” In 2004,
Rolling Stone magazine ranked the Beach Boys #12 on its list of the “100
Greatest Artists of All Time.” Formed in 1961, the group gained
popularity for its close vocal harmonies and lyrics reflecting a
California youth culture of surfing, girls and cars with other popular
singles including “Help Me Rhonda” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “California
Girls.”
8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 Wynonna
American country music singer, Wynonna brings her powerful voice and
strong stage presence to The Star of the Desert Arena. Before launching
her solo career, Wynonna sang with her mother as part of one of the most
successful and celebrated country music duos. Together, they were known
as The Judds, and the duo charted 23 hit singles on the Billboard Hot
Country Singles including including 14 number one hits. Wynonna’s solo
album is due out in late 2008 featuring classic recordings such as “When
I Fall in Love” and “I'm a Woman.”
8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
Two time Grammy Award-nominated country music singer-songwriter, Miranda
Lambert opens the show with her sassy vocal and signature sound. The
country star rose to fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of “Nashville
Star” and quickly signed with Epic Records. Her singles “Gunfire and
Lead,” “Kerosene” and “Famous in a Small Town” quickly led her to
country music fame.
Country crooner Blake Shelton made his musical debut with “Austin,” a
single that spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country
Songs list. Shelton has charted 13 singles on the country charts,
including three other number one hits: "The Baby," "Some Beach” and
"Home."
8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 Patti LaBelle
After performing with two different groups, Labelle and the Bluebelles,
and Labelle, the songstress formed her solo career in 1976. Best known
for her passionate stage performances, wide vocal range and distinctive
high-octave belting, the singer went on to record many successful hits.
In 1991, Patti released the gold-selling Burnin' album, which helped her
win her first Grammy Award for “Best R&B Female Vocal Performance.”
8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 The B-52s
Originating as a new wave rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, the
band’s name comes from a hairdo resembling the nose of an airplane. With
sounds marked by the vocals of Cindy Wilson, Kate Pierson and Fred
Schneider, The B-52s are a positive and enthusiastic party band with
songs that focus on telling tall tales, glorifying youth and celebrating
wild romance.
8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 Lee Ann Womak
It was several hits such as "A Little Past Little Rock" and "I'll Think
of a Reason Later" that broke Womack into country music fame. Growing
up, Womack was surrounded by country music and is the daughter of a DJ.
The album, I Hope You Dance was certified triple platinum by the RIAA,
and is her biggest selling album to date, reaching number one on the
"Top Country Albums" chart and number 16 on the "Billboard 200".
8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 Dwight Yoakum
Popular country music performer, Dwight Yoakum has sold more than 25
million albums worldwide, placing him in the elite of country music
superstars. He has 12 gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum
albums, including the triple platinum “This Time.” Five of his records
have topped Billboard’s Country Albums chart with another seven landing
in the Top 10. Whether singing about the broken hearts in romance or
ruined dreams in life, Yoakum brings an unforgettable performance in
delivery and stands as one of country music’s most well known artists
today.
8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 Three Dog Night and Herman’s Hermits
Legendary music icons, Three Dog Night, enter its fourth decade bringing
some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. Hit singles
such as "Joy to the World," "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)," "Shambala,"
"One" and "Black and White" serve to heighten emotions and crystallize
Three Dog Night’s continuing popularity. Now, after nearly 40 years on
the road, Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base and entertain
audiences around the globe.
English pop band Herman’s Hermits will amuse crowds with singles
including "I'm Into Something Good,” “Mrs Brown,” and “You've Got a
Lovely Daughter.” The band had three Top Three hits in the U.S.
including "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat." Herman’s Hermits continues to
draw fans from throughout the country.
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2008 The Village People, Sister Sledge and
Rose Royce
Celebrating 30 years as disco icons, The Village People is synonymous
with dance music. These six talented men combine energetic choreography
with outrageous fun and lots of bumping and grinding, singing and
dancing to provide great entertainment for all audiences.
Joining The Village People, Sister Sledge is an American musical group
consisting of four sisters who were born and raised in West
Philadelphia. Their biggest success came in 1979 with the popular disco
anthems “We Are Family” and “He's the Greatest Dancer.”
Rose Royce will take the stage with its three Billboard R&B Top 10
singles “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You” and “I'm Going Down.” The
former was also a number one single on the Billboard pop charts, and “I
Wanna Get Next to You” reached number 10.
