THE
PALMS RUSTLES UP THE STARS FOR RED CARPET PREMIERE OF NATIONAL LAMPOON'S
"CATTLE CALL"
By Erica Hector Vital
Though you might take exception to the title of National Lampoon’s
latest foray into blatantly irreverent, always sexist, slapstick there
is no denying the novelty of fifty stilleto-ed starlets strolling the
red carpet of the Palms Casino Resort the first night of June 2006,
wending their way to Johnny Brenden’s theatre to see themselves lit
large on the silver screen.
Thomas Ian Nicholas of American Pie and co-star Andrew Katos are two
ingeniuous, red-blooded (or should I say boned) American males who
set-up a fake casting agency in an effort to help Thomas’ character
Richie Rey find the love of his life. From principal actresses Jenny
Mollen (Angel) and Nicole Eggert (Baywatch) to the bevy of CATTLE CALL
secondary players, including the very personable Vicki Goldsmith
(Entourage) and Tanjareen Martin (Johnson Family Vacation), the flashes
of leg and glam, flesh and youth, were non-stop.
Guided under the expert tutelage and refreshingly generous hosting
skills of Rich And Famous personality Robin Leach, the event will stand
as another heady, extravagant Vegas-style example of life imitating art
for which the Palms and Brenden Theatres are becoming known.
A radiant Jenny Mollen, whose 27th birthday celebration was hosted by
co-star Chelsea Handler the previous Tuesday night in the ghostbar at
the Palms, was escorted along the red carpet by her father who brought
with him a touch of Old World sex appeal that could only be equaled by
the leading man grace of Palms owner George Maloof, and only possibly
surpassed by the polished good looks of CATTLE CALL co-star Jack
Maxwell. Maxwell’s smile alone was enough to cause a stampede of hopeful
actresses, and journalists. Andrew Katos was accompanied by girlfriend
Suzanne Le who, fortunately for the other girls, was not a participant
in the round-up. Johnny Brenden and wife, Diva, finessed the red carpet.
Without their humility and Continental sense of style, the Vegas royal
couple could easily have been mistaken as members of the film’s sexy and
well endowed cast. CATTLE CALL’s writer/director Martin Guigui was in
attendance as well as executive producer Josi Konski. Konski and stars
of the film converged at the Palms’ premier nightclub Rain after the
screening in a real life call for talent to select winning local
actresses to appear in the next Lampoon creation. Winners received
acting contracts the producers of the film, Astrablu Media.
Nearly three decades after Animal House, National Lampoon, partnering
with the Palms for the premiere of CATTLE CALL, still knows how to bring
home the beef. |
