Dixie’s
Dam Country Bar at Hooters Is A Hoot For Country Fans
By Burt Davis
(Dianne was out of town and hubby Burt filled in on this
assignment)
If you’re a Redneck Woman, head to Hooters. Or, if you want to hear
Scotty Alexander and the Smok’n Nashville Band and the New Country
Strings sing “Redneck Woman”, yup, head to Hooters.

Dixie’s Dam Country is now open there, complete with a highly charged
atmosphere with good looking Hooters girls dressed in cowgirl outfits.
Dixie’s Dam Country Bar is billed as the only country bar on The Strip.
The 3,000 square foot room has a wooden western style interior and
consists of an island bar, dance floor, band area, and lots of tables.
Dixie’s is open from 7 p.m. until the party stops Wednesday through
Saturday nights. Country singer and songwriter Scotty Alexander and the
Smok’n Nashville Band and the New Country Strings, an exciting group of
four fiddler femmes, are a crowd pleaser. No surprise. Scotty has worked
as Wayne Newton’s musical director.

When I was there for media night on June 11, Scotty did a great job of
interacting with the audience. His band and the fiddler gals are backed
by a series of female D.J.’s.
All Female
The female bartenders (no men are hired for those positions) and
waitresses are just what you would expect in Hooters -- young and
cheerful. The difference between the Dixie’s girls and Hooter’s girls is
simply in the outfits they wear. Of course they are skimpy when it comes
to coverage in Dixie’s signature style - - sexy leather halter tops with
fringe and short shorts. But they didn’t skimp on the selection of
available liquors at the bar.

Cows!
New clubs, bars, shows, and restaurants in Vegas all vie for attention
and media space, so there’s no telling what gimmicks they will come up
with to get coverage. For Dixie’s, one of the gimmicks was a cow.
Actually, it was a person in a white with orange spots cow costume. It
was ‘”utterly” fun to talk with the cow which I admit I did. Many of the
guests even danced with it!

Special guests during the media night hours included Hooters performers
Mentalist Gerry McCambridge and the Pitbull of Comedy, Bobby Slayton.

The media event lasted until 9 p.m., but I noticed that a lot of folks
showed up later that night in classic tourist garb. And they clearly
were there to enjoy the fun and energy.
Unlike most of the bar/clubs in The Strip area, Dixie’s has no cover or
minimums. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is no mandatory bottle
service. I liked the casual fun feel and friendliness of Dixie’s and
would recommend it to locals and visitors alike.

Check out Dixie’s – its just steps away from the Night Owl Showroom
where Mentalist Gerry McCambridge performs Wednesdays through Sundays at
7 p.m. and the “Pitbull of Comedy” Bobby Slayton shares his comedic
outlook on life Wednesdays through Sundays at 9:00 p.m.
Dixie’s Dam Country Bar is open 7 p.m. till the party stops, Wednesdays
through Saturdays, at Hooters Casino Hotel, 115 E. Tropicana Ave., Las
Vegas, NV 89109, across the street from the MGM Grand., call
